I rang to make an appointment. Melissa answered abruptly and I was unsure if I had rung the right number. When I asked if it was the doctors, she said yes and I asked if I could make an appointment. She gave me a time and I said what is the next evening appointment as its advertised on their website that they do evening appointments. Her answer was " no we don't do evening, do you want it or not?" The whole tone was very rude and abrupt, and I was taken aback to the point we I actually said that I thought her tone was rude and very abrupt. Her answer was "Go somewhere else and she hung up" It was appalling conduct and I rarely write reviews but Melissa was so rude.

Very unprofessional conduct. A patient of his had a revision total knee replacement which became complicated by infection (a risk always explained to patients prior to surgery). However this patient attended another health provider and was unable to give a good picture of what happened when the knee was revised with Mr Lade 10 years ago. The provider phoned his private rooms asking for correspondence to better understand the patient condition, however his secretary Melissa and Dr Lade spoke to me (provider) over the phone and declined to provide any letters/or reviews from his rooms at Mulgrave Private(where the patient had surgery/reviews). He chose to attack 'my ability to take a history and exam' from the patient.

I write to report how happy I am with my recent total right knee replacement by Dr. Justin Lade.
Melissa (receptionist & Dr Lade's wife) was most helpful when I rang her in pain requesting an appointment and she fitted me in asap. I had occasion to ring her a couple of times afterwards and every time she was most helpful and obliging.
Justin is very friendly and informative about the operation and I felt very confident of his expertise. I was in hospital for only 2 days but came home and had rehab at home from a wonderful company called Rehab Ready. Within 4 weeks I had 120% bend in my knee, never used the crutches, except in hospital as I could walk unaided which is apparently unusual after such a short time. I did my exercises religiously every day and was able to go for a reasonable walk after 7 weeks. I had my operation in May 2021.
I can now walk at a good pace without any pain for about 2 kms. I had no pain at all and recovered very well. I had Bakers Cysts behind both knees before my surgery. Of course the right knee is cyst free and the left knee seems to have settled down and I may not need a replacement there now.
I would recommend Justin every time without hesitation and am so grateful to him for restoring my knee. 10 out of 10 Justin and many many thanks.

I saw a few surgeons about my hip before seeing Justin. He did the replacement, I was out of hospital in 2 days and walking 4 ks every day a week later. Had a couple of other things done by him no problem. My wife had knee replacement by him too. I recommended him to a friend and an uncle. He had his hip done and friends mother too. Going to see him tomorrow about my other hip and have no reservations about him doing it. Apart from a good surgeon, good bloke too. The receptionist Melissa, his wife , is great too. Nothings a problem with either of them. Highly recommend them

Hi I am a GP who refers to Justin Lade - he is back in full swing at his Ashburton practice - since earlier this year. He had family commitments that took more priority than his work.

Wonderful Orthopaedic Surgeon, fabulous team right from Receptionist Kathy, Justin himself, anaesthetist, nursing and hospital staff. I had a total reverse shoulder replacement, in hospital for 5 days, rehabilitation 6 days, and not one bit of pain for the whole time. Can reach right across my back, reach for the stars, Evernote Justin was impressed with the results achieved by himself. Would like to know how and when I can contact Himmel as he’s the only Orthopod I would have now. Please help?

Based on my recent experience involving orthopaedic surgery I have no hesitation in recommending Justin Lade without reservation.
Justin arranged for knee replacement surgery as soon as possible. He personally checked on my progress a number of times. My recovery was amazing. I left the hospital after six days and attended the Victorian Rehabilitation Centre. Seven weeks later I am walking without any aids and have 115% bend in my replaced knee. I credit the success of my surgery and exceptional recovery to the skills of the surgical team and Justin Lade in particular.

For over 20 years, I had been avoiding knee replacement surgery, but with no cartilage left, it became a necessity. I was so desperate that I even looked at stem cell therapy, but because of the state of my knee, that wasn’t possible without an arthroscopy. Because I’d already had four arthroscopies on that particular knee, I didn’t want to endure yet another operation and stem cell therapy and then have to wait for a year to hope for a 70% chance of success. The odds weren’t good!
My GP then suggested I see Dr. Justin Lade, who I found to be friendly and who answered all of my questions. He replaced my knee exactly 6 weeks ago. Two weeks after the surgery, I stopped using crutches altogether; I am also slowly tackling the staircase at home; of course, I’m still undergoing physiotherapy.
Today, Dr. Lade cleared me to go surfing in a fortnight’s time, so I’m looking forward to riding the waves once again, a mere EIGHT WEEKS after surgery! (And I’m 63.)
Looking at the X-rays, it’s plain to see that Dr. Lade had ensured that the replacement connected perfectly with my femur and tibia. He told me that there is a 95% success rate with this surgery. (Compare that with 35-70% for stem cell therapy). Physio is key to this, of course.
I’m extremely grateful to Dr. Lade and very elated with my new knee! Not only that, but the pain levels I had were definitely LOWER than what I’d experienced with those arthroscopies 25 years ago.
If you need a knee replacement, I suggest you contact him now!
