Worst experience ever! ! I was sent to Mary Washington Hospital to be induced and Dr. Pyatak was covering for my regular doctor. I had a nurse start the admission process, but told me she needed a doctor's approval to start my pitocin and epidural . I waited for ELEVEN hours before he even bothered to stop by my room. I started having regular contractions on my own 3-5 minutes apart without the pitocin and was unable to get my epidural during this time because a doctors approval was needed. When he finally did come into my room he said " I don't know what you're waiting on. Your orders for an epidural have been in all day." He had a bad attitude in general, so much so that every one of my family members who was in the room with me made a comment about how rude he was once he walked out. I'm so frustrated about my experience with him that I am debating switching doctors (even though I love my current obgyn) just so that I never have the possibility of Dr. Pyatak covering for him ever again. To me, a doctor's responsibility is to make his/her patient feel comfortable and taken care of. I had never felt so out of control and neglected in my whole life. While I am sure the particular L&D nurse I had at the time was also partially at fault, Dr. Pyatak should have made sure a patient under his care didn't go eleven hours without being acknowledged. It was a terrifying experience. Do NOT see this doctor!

Our experience with Dr. Pyatak was absolutely horrible. We went to the ER at Mary Washington Hospital in labor. After keeping us waiting he spent 30 minutes lecturing us on not having insurance and lack of appointments. Without looking at the monitoring charts or doing an internal, he said you are not in labor, go home. The contractions were 2 minutes apart and there was a bloody discharge, but he was to busy to get off his high and mighty horse to do his job. We left Mary Washington Hospital, went to Stafford Hospital and had a healthy baby boy 2 hours later.

He is a very professional, knowledgeable, nice, patient, and compassionate doctor. I suffered with gyno problems for many years, and I was unable to find the right doctor that I could trust to deliver the appropriate care. I have seen many doctors over the years who could do nothing to help me. There was a time when I had given up hope, and decided that I was going to have to live with my problem for the rest of my life. One day, I was so sick and tired of of my problem that I decided to do some research on OB/GYN doctors that had an interest and expertise in my problem. Thank God, I was lucky enough to find out about this doctor. Months ago I had surgery, and I am very pleased with the outcome. I got my life back! I HIGHLY recommend this doctor to any woman who is looking for an OB/GYN doctor. He is a great doctor with a wonderful personality. He is truly the best!

I would like to preface my comment by saying that I am sure there are patients under Dr. Pyatak's care the benefit greatly from his expertise. However, I was not one of them. My husband and I went to see Dr. Pyatak suspecting that I was pregnant. I have had consistant periods for 14 years now & at this point I was 4.5 weeks late. I had not received a + read on a home test (which is common in my family.)Dr. Pyatak refused to do an exam (even though the nurse laid out the supplies.) He also would not do a confirmation ultrasound (the nurse had also rolled in the ultrasound machine for this purpose.) He very bluntly stated that he felt I had IBS, would not listen to my other sypmtoms and gave me a prescription to jump start my period. When I asked him what would happen if I were pregnant and I took this pill he responded that it would abort my baby. Needless to say, I did not take the pill and I found another Dr. I am currently 9 months pregnant and looking forward to the birth of my son.
