This doctor is rude, terse, and judgemental. After my first time ever meeting with her she told my wife (without my knowledge) that I had a serious permanent mental illness and the condition was permanent. She prescribed strong psychotropic meds that my long time doctor immediately told me to stop taking, as she had misdiagnosed me entirely. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!

I was considered hopeless by the other psychartists in Orangeburg. I did not want her at first and thought she was mean until I started doing what she told me. She saved my life. I have ADD and bipolar. But I have worked in Information Technology for 20 years. Very few people who have the severe episodes with bipolar disease are able to say that. In face most bipolor are unable to work.

Very few of the patients whose lives Dr. Lawsin has saved will bother to do this as they know how brillant she is.Bi-polar personalities are usually not able to work for a period of time. I was almost to the point of being admitted to Bull Street with diagnosis of "no hope". I fought her at first to get what I wanted but in the end I was lucky enough to unharden my heart and do as she said. I have had worked at the same large employer for 17 years now. I still see her as often as necessary but from where I started from earned me Voc Rehab client of the year to earning the respect of my co-workers despite suffering from fragments of my disease. It has been a long journey which I would never have been able to travel without her.

I have 2 diseases & had a traumatic event 10 years ago.I have PTSD & went to her for help. After my 1st visit of 20 mins she diagnosed me w/Bi-Polar & put me on 3 meds, after 2 docs had taken me off 4 meds because many of my medications were causing problematic side effects. So now I was back to taking more than 10 meds again! My next visit, I told her the meds. didn't seem to be doing what she told me they should be doing & she said I complained too much!! Like she would get the dosage right on my first visit! On my 4th visit, she dismissed me as a client because I had to reschedule my appt. due to a stomach flu. (This was my 1st time rescheduling an appt.!) She called me the following week at 2:30pm and told me she couldn't see me anymore because I was sick too much (one time, out of 4 visits!), though she knew I had two diseases, and didn't even let me speak, to say I was coming that day for my 5:30 appointment!! Her loss, this will only help my disability claim! Don't go to her!!
