I went in on an emergency visit with extreme pain a little over 2 weeks ago (it was a Friday). Dr Shortell said I had 2 abscessed teeth & he put me on antibiotics. I was already on another antibiotic so he told me that he was going to call my doctor that put me on the other one & then he was going to call me to give me the go ahead to start his antibiotic. I waited the entire weekend in excruciating pain but heard nothing from Dr Shortell. By Monday I thought maybe I misunderstood so I went ahead & started the antibiotics he prescribed me. I finished the antibiotic & waited a few days & didn't hear from the Dr. Finally exactly 2 weeks later I called back. (Also before I left my initial visit Dr Shortell said to me at least 3 times that he'd call me, don't call him. My boyfriend heard him also - that is why I waited so long.) The lady who answered said he was doing a procedure but was trying to "remember" my situation stating something about St Luke's & my heart doctor. I told her that my Dr wasn't with St Luke's & was a dermatologist. I realized then that Dr Shortell HADN'T called my doctor yet! He NEVER called me back after his procedure. He gives out his cell number in case you need to get a hold of him so I called him last night. He didn't answer my call. I was very pleasant & told him I wanted to give him a chance to explain why he hadn't called my Dr in 2 weeks. He never called me back last night or today. He totally messed up & is running from his mistake instead of facing me when I truly need him. How could a Dr do that to a patient whom he sees is in so much pain. I was crying in his office. I've been seeing him for years! I just don't understand.
