Despite all the good reviews I read, my visit to Dr. Liva was awful. I have double vision and have seen multiple doctors to try to fix the issue. I was told to see a neuro optomologist and went to Dr. Liva because he took my insurance and had good ratings. All he did was barely look at me, belittle me and told me I didn't have double vision, that I "wasn't focusing" because my mind was wandering. I've been suffering with double vision for over 2 years. I'm unable to drive anymore and I often have headaches and dizzy spells. I assure you, it's not my mind wandering. He completely invalidated my symptoms and blew me off. I don't know if I caught him on a bad day, frankly I don't care. It was very insulting and unprofessional of him to treat me that way and I will be seeking help elsewhere.

Dr. Liva is a wonderful doctor. My dad had to have cataract surgery and Dr. Liva performed both procedures on my dad's eyes. My dad is so pleased with the results. He can see better than before and is extremely happy. I would highly recommend Dr. Liva. He is a an amazing and caring doctor. I recently had an appointment with Dr. Liva for an eye exam. He is very knowledgeable and professional and provides the best advice. He is one if the best doctors around.

We took my mother to Dr. Liva to remove cataracts in both eyes. The experience was nothing short of a nightmare. So horrible it was, we refuse to take our Dad there for his eye care. Dr Liva was contemptuous and insulting to my mother - because he judged her. He is a racist and a religious bigot and it affects his ability to provide care. During her first eye surgery he kept asking his assistants if she could speak English. When she answered yes, he shouted at her to be quiet. My Mom is a kind and simple woman. She was so traumatised after her eye surgery when we went to see her after the procedure that she cried like I have never seen her cry in all of her life. It was more because of the contempt she received at the hands of this doctor than any other reason. She only went back to get the other eye done because she was already in his care and was keen to get back out to work and couldn't handle the delay that seeking out another care provider would entail. Dr Liva put a stitch in her right eye which caused her 'sticking' because he said he 'assumed' that 'women like her' - I guess old and brown skinned means ignorance and foolish to him - would rub their eyes and damage the lens he inserted. My mom and the rest of us are the most disciplined people when it comes to following procedures, yet Dr. Liva had some ignorance about Indians in his mind that colored his professional judgment. He even expressed fear about ISIS. Maybe because we have muslim names. Now, post-cataract surgery, when she is suffering from burning in her eyes and itch, he says it is not his responsibility. Dr Liva's primary concern throughout all of this process for my mother was to receive the money. That appears to be his primary reason for working. There is no compassion and no love and no care from this individual.

I went to Dr. Liva to have my eyes checked. The staff was very nice and helpful, and there wasn't a very long wait. Though Dr. Liva himself was very knowledgeable and smart, and certainly knew what he was talking about - I felt super uncomfortable. He has a very cold bedside manner that made me cancel the remainder of my appointments. It's too bad, otherwise an excellent optometrist.
