This is hands down the WORST doctor I’ve ever been to. I was left IN TEARS after my visit with her because of how cruel and judgemental she was. This review is pretty personal but I think it’s important to tell the whole story. I wanted to get an iud removed both because I was worried about side effects and because I came to the decision that I was done having a foreign object releasing hormones in MY BODY. She first told me that before removing it I needed to be on another form of birth control or I would end up pregnant. I explained that I wasn’t sure and asked about other options. She did not answer a single question but somehow managed to interrupt every other sentence and tell me (with 100% confidence) that if I wasn’t on another form of birth control she would be seeing me “within a matter of weeks for pregnancy or abortion services”. I then told her that I was not going to practice abstinence until I figured out another form of contraception and that it wasn’t a huge deal. She said “well, very few people see it that way” to which I responded that if my boyfriend couldn’t handle abstinence for a week or so while I decide on another form of birth control it would make it clear why he was with me and I wouldn’t want to be with someone like that. She then very judgmentally told me that other people don’t see it that way and that it would likely end my relationship with my boyfriend and reiterated that I’m going to need “pregnancy or abortion services” from her soon. So essentially an 18 year old girl not being on birth control automatically results in pregnancy AND my boyfriend (who she had never met or heard of before and who I had discussed this decision with at length- he was 100% supportive of my decision to remove the IUD) was going to leave me if there was a period of time during which we could not have intercourse. So she refused to let me speak, ignored my questions, and assumed that I’m so ravaged by hormones and lacking in self control that I’ll end up pregnant in the short period of time that my birth control plan is abstinence. Oh and that my apparently my boyfriend of a year and a half will leave me if I get the iud removed.

Dr. Fineberg is by far the most knowledgeable OB/GYN I have every seen, and that includes many fertility specialists at the UC Davis Med Center. She was the person who diagnosed my low hormone levels after I had two previous miscarriages (not while under her care), the treatment of which resulted in the birth full term very healthy twins. Dr. Fineberg was very comprehensive in her approach to my health, remembering small details from my health history (back to my own birth) that no other doctors had every correlated. I feel extremely grateful for the care I received before becoming pregnant, during the pregnancy, and during the postpartum period. In my opinion, Dr. Fineberg is a wonderful physician who truly cares about her patients. I give her my highest recommendation and would trust my very best friends and family members to her competent care.
