He is very knowledgeable and patient. I mean, you have a lot of VERY different ppl coming in to see him. as you may see by reading the reviews ( we are all over the place) The last review reads as if ts a former employee,? You must know what your insurance covers, it's not up to the office. First time, in my life I have not gone to the hospital for overreacting FULL panic & unable to breathe - he has talked me off the ledge many times. I like him as a Dr and A person. sometimes we don't see them as human. during the hurricane when everything we NOT working- we did our visit by hand. He scheduled me a visit and took care of me with no money at that time. I highly recommend him.

Over a period of several years my problems with this doctor have been considerably less since I was correctly diagnosed by a different doctor and already stabilized with medication when I returned to Dr Patel. On more than one occasion I encountered catastrophic office staff practices, while totally unacceptable in most offices, considered totally acceptable regardless of the accepted standards. It was perfectly all right to call me at home and demand cash money the day of the call by the end of the day for $50 for a missed appointment. Recently I was told by office staff after paying cash money, $25 for a medically necessary call to the insurance company, and $94 dollars co payment in case my insurance didn't cover, that I was done with DR Patel for apparently failing to completely understand his current office politics? He has started another all new office staff again as of February 5th 2018, which he does periodically, probably to keep his workers at reduced wages/ benefits. You’ll be lucky to get 3 to 4 minutes with the doctor after waiting 25 to 40 minutes in a cramped room from the 50ies and then waiting an additional 5 or 10 minutes after seeing the doctor for the office staff to complete the prescriptions he ordered and may have signed. You better be patient in order to be a Dr Patel patient or you may be told by office staff to find a different doctor that might be something other than a “script doctor”. After all Dr Patel never did remedy or suggest anything close to my actual medical problem and certainly did not have the intestinal fortitude to address my problems with his current staff. He was able to copy medical orders that were previously ordered by other doctors but any difference made by him proved to be an introduction to living as a zombie

This man has permanently damaged my nervous & digestive system with a class of drugs called benzodiazapenes (xanex, Ativan, clonozempam, valium) . I first came to him in the summer of 2007 for mild anxiety & sleeplessness which was brought on by personal issues (divorce , demotion at work) After listening to my problems for about 5 minutes Dr Patel brought out his Rx pad & wrote me a prescription for Xanex, the short acting benzodiazapene. My response to seeing this was one of disbelief, I assumed that he would prescribe an SSRI, selective seratonin reuptake inhibitor, ie, zoloft, welbutrin, effexor, or some other type of non-narcotic drug. I was foolish for not doing any research regarding the dependancy & permanent health risks involved with taking this class of drug. I was unaware that the drug should only be prescribed a last resort (only to be taken for max 2 weeks), not a first response that is given over many years. This MD is wreckless and has permanently damaged my health.

I rate this doctor as the best. He has helped me more than any doctor that I have been to in 30 years. He does listen and asks concerned questions on every visit. All I had to do was call his number when I lost a child due to an accident and he called me immediately.

I think Dr. Patel is one of the best psychiatrists in this region. I've known him for a long time and generally patients give very high ratings. Damon LaBarbera, PhD.

I saw Dr Patel for a year and throughout this time he kept me on the same medication. When I lost my insurance, I made my 3 month script last me for 4 1/2 months. When I finally ran out I called the office requesting to have the doctor call in a script for me. He refused and when I asked him about the possibility of me having a seizure from withdrawing from my meds his exact words were "That is not my problem, you should have thought about that before". On top of this when I have called to have my records sent to me, I have been hung up on several times. I have never been rude to these people and this was completely uncalled for. The first 2 codes of ethics for doctors is 1) Consider first the well-being of your patient. and 2) Treat your patient with compassion and respect. This office is awful. They are interested in money alone and do not care about you as a person or patient.

He was dismissive, arrogant and rude. Didnt care about your opinions. He offered a medicine, I at first said I didnt want it then changed my mind, he played some childish game and refused to give it to me. Dont waste your time here, the man needs to work on his people skills bad.

Dr. Patel wasn't very good at listening but very good at pushing new samples. He put me on ridoline and then a med for narcolepsy (please exuse the spelling) when I stated that I'm tired though-out the day. Come to find out it was from my low thyroid and low adrenals. He didn't seem to care what I had to say.
