I've been seeing Dr. Galamba since I first moved to San Francisco in 2004. She is both competent and caring. I have always received great attention and concern from her regarding all of my medical questions. She takes the time to speak to me and explain any of my health issues. I highly recommend her as your General Practioner.

Dr. Galamba is an extremely informative and knowledgable practitioner. She has an obvious passion for medicine and more importantly she is very empathetic. When I told her about my extreme anxiety and hypochondria around death, she was open and understanding. I did not think she was blunt, rude, or inappropriate at any time. She is honest, funny and after nearly 1 year of not seeing her after my first visit, she had a very sharp memory for who I was and what I did. In my opinion she has a very easy-going personality and trust me, due to my anxiety, I am not comfortable with just any doctor. She takes you and your health very seriously, maybe some of the previous reviewers are mistaking her no nonsense approach as rude. As for the state of her office, who cares? She isn't trying to be an interior decorator and she has been in that office since 1986.

She was my doctor years ago. And, I still talk about her because she was the worst I have ever had. I had a very painful stomach ache and kept throwing up every day. She insisted that I was pregnant - even though I told her it was impossible as I hadn't had sex. She refused to believe me and then told me I was the reason insurance companies charge so much - because I came in for "nothing." I hardly ever go to the doctor unless I REALLY don't feel well - so that comment was incredibly insulting. I ended up changing doctors and found out my stomach issue was stress related.

I strongly caution anyone from selecting her as their primary care physician. The office setup is strange and unwelcoming. You sit in a hallway behind a closed door, never knowing whether the assistant is aware that you're there, so eventually you must knock, which seems to aggravate them. I also find the clutter, dusty fake flowers, and especially her dog (!!!) to be inappropriate for a doctor's office. It's truly a mess! More importantly, I rarely leave her office with the feeling that my questions have been answered. In fact, I tend to go away feeling more confused than when I arrived. There have also been times when I've requested referrals from her office to see a specialist. It often takes days before they get around to faxing a referral, which is beyond frustrating when seeing a specialist is of the utmost importance. I am switching primary care physicians today. Please heed the many negative reviews rather than the few stellar ones. Your health depends on it.

She refused to give me a regular prescription, because she had written the same prescription to my husband who has the same condition. She seemed reluctant to give me a pap smear. She jiggled my stomach and remarked: "That is not muscle." I was 30 lb overweight at my appointment a few months ago, and I've lost 15 lb since then. Nevertheless, I thought her comment was unnecessary. She and her office assistant are very aloof, and in their office, you generally get the impression that they are not interested in making patients feel at ease. Dr. Galamba is not very knowledgeable, and I had the impression that she was not the type of doctor who enjoyed her job. She made me and my husband feel guilty for seeing her, giving us the impression that she was too busy to see us.
