I think Dr. Shepler is probably a decent hand specialist as far as his expertise goes. However his bedside manner was so off-putting, that I would definitely find another hand doc if I needed one again. He walked into the room, did not introduce himself or say "hello"...just immediately started with a barrage of questions that he typed into his computer, never giving me eye contact or addressing me personally. The physical examination of my hands was very painful...I felt that he was trying to impress me with his knowledge and speed while he rapidly manipulated my hands into excruciating positions...never asking if I was experiencing discomfort. Look elsewhere for your hand specialist.

A specialist orthopedist in arm and hand only. Very outgoing and skillful surgeon; personable; informative; available both physically and psychologically; far more knowledgeable and supportive than generalist orthopedists. Support staff seem poorly trained and supervised; office seems a bit chaotic. Occupational therapy is a high priority here and the therapists are very knowledgeable and experienced. Expect an aggressive approach to rehab after surgery.
