I had treatment for BDP with Dr Lingam many years ago at Claremont House. He really changed my life and is a very brilliant doctor. I don't understand the comments regarding him not being warm and cuddly enough for people- if this is what you're looking for, then maybe find a counsellor or someone else who will just listen to you whine on and feel really sorry for you. If, like me, you actually want help in battling a disorder that can be pretty ugly at times, find a doctor like Dr. Lingam who constantly challenges your negative thought patterns and actually helps you to become less annoying.

I had 4 deeply unpleasant sessions with this man many years ago, during my time at Claremont House. I found him arrogant, unprofessional and he seemed to enjoy provoking a response in me whenever possible. I found him cold and he lacked any empathy. His comments were derogatory, outdated and he acted and dressed like a clown. I would not recommend this man to anyone. My time with him actually made me feel much worse and I'm very surprised he is still practising.

I had the misfortune to see Dr. Lingam at Claremont House and it was some of the most uncomfortable consultations I’ve ever had, that still stay with me over 20 years later. I do not recommend him as a psychotherapist.

I first saw Dr Lingam in 2018 and have been regularly seeing him for well over a year now. He is an excellent psychiatrist who shows to be very experienced in his field. He has a very caring and kind, warm manner. I have seen three other psychiatrists who did not treat me well, so to see Dr Lingam it was amazing to be understood and I felt heard, he stands out by far as the best psychiatrist I have seen. He goes out of his way to help his patients and takes the time to listen to me. I feel safe and understood. After all I have been through he has probably saved my life. Would definitely recommend him to anyone who needs help.

I had to laugh that on his web site he states that he is "Warm and engaging", I found him cold, arrogant and very unpleasant. I had the misfortune of being referred to him when he worked at Claremont House. I am constantly meeting numerous ex patients of his who have nothing nice to say about him, and speak of him with a passionate hatred and anger, with similar experiences to of mine of having been traumatized by his arrogant and uncaring manner. It's such a shame for all of the excellent NHS consultants that there has to be some bad apples, and he is certainly is one of them. Avoid this man if you can for your own well being. If you do see him record your dealings with him, you may need it as evidence to report him to relevant authorities. Do not tolerate his the behavior of this very unpleasant man.

I have met Dr lingam on a number of occasions and found him to be arrogant and patronising. i have never been persuaded of any warmth or empathy towards myself as a patient and on the contrary judgemental and hardfaced. I dont understand doctors who are so uncaring towards those they're supposed to help. he didnt communicate that he had any grasp of my condition and didnt provide useful treatment. He attended the appointment wearing red, cord trousers and a green cord jacket which appeared unprofessional to me, he has been equally unsuitably dressed at other times, and gives the impression that he doesnt take his job to seriously, he is to be avoided.

Doesn't talk much or come across well. Very knowledgeable when he does but seems condescending and patronising. Most of the time feels like I may as well talk to one of my cats. Can be very helpful very occasionally.
