Thanks to his care I can still see. Yes the organisation may be a bit hectic but it’s what all hospital clinics are like. It was far worse when he was in the old Royal Victoria hospital.
He took the time to explain everything, yes, you see a resident first but how else do you expect the to learn. I also have bifocal lens after a cataract opération and he always ask my permission to let his residents see what it was like.
Followed me for many years..at the start every 4 months then as my condition improved he’d put longer time between visits..but if things were not improving to his satisfaction he’s follow me well.

No respect for others. Don't expect much humility or compaction from him. In his eyes, you are simply another number in a list of patients.

Dr. Deschenes may be an excellent surgeon but has very poor doctor-patient relationship skills. He barely spent 5 minutes with me in pre- or post-op visits. His answers and instructions were short and abrupt. I am experiencing distorted vision in that eye and he has refused to see me, claiming that he had already told me about the distortion. How can he justify dismissing a patient who has difficulty with clarity limiting reading ability and depth perception. He obviously does not care beyond the procedure.

In the time of Covid, Dr Deschênes was outstanding and even managed to complete my two cataract surgeries in a period of two weeks with excellent results. I found him knowledgeable and understanding. He answered all of my questions.

Il est prétentieux et ne répond que si on dit oui oui.. J’ai demandé d’avoir accès à mon dossier. Ièll a refusé et ensuite Ièll n’a plus voulu que je reste sa patiente. C’est un peu beaucoup se croire au dessus de tout. Je ne l’ai jamais revu ensuite.

I was a patient of Dr. Deschenes for 14 years and he was excellent, helpful, compassionate and extremely knowledgeable. For the past four years I have been in Ottawa trying to find someone as helpful as he was. I now fully realize how lucky I was to stumble upon him and the Royal Vic clinic, the two doctors I have seen here knew of him and one called him the guru of opthamology and in my books he is! I am searching for a third doctor now and am seriously thinking of simply seeing him again as he instilled confident that he knew what he was doing unlike others. As far as being busy, they al are but at least with him you can rest assured that he is competent. HE is the best and widely know as the best.

Ce médecin n'au aucune considération pour ses patients. J'ai voulu avoir accès à mon dossier pour mon permis de conduire. Il a refusé! et suite à ma demande il n'a plus voulu me voir comme patient. Très difficile d'avoir des informations de sa part!
