A cautionary tale to those who might be new to Dr.Stewart. If you quickly find she is hard to work with I urge you to search for a new Psychiatrist while the ink is still wet. She is certainly qualified, attentive, and punctual, but if you do not develop a repor quickly she can be a majorly antagonistic force to your treatment. Her recommended medications would be sound, but her delivery of advice is belittling, cold, and downright catty at times. She will make it abundantly clear she is the smartest person in the room, and there is no self-reporting how you feel, she will tell you what she thinks. Those that get along with her have left her wonderful reviews, and Susan is a wonderful match. But if you meet with her and feel worse after, please do not make the same mistake my family has made and get stuck with her for years, find someone new. We are still stuck.

Recommended I go to AA without an addictions assessment, made me feel a lot of guilt and shame for drinking. Really seems to focus on the coping mechanisms and not the real problems/offered hardly any advice/told me to do my own research but the books would be “expensive”

Authorized unnecessary testing. Apathetic towards patients issues unless medically relevant.

I'll say this. She asked, "From a 1-10, how do you feel?" I said I feel like a 2. "You don't look like you feel 2" That's because it's mental illness, susan.

In my experience, Dr. Stewart made me feel worse following every appointment. She invalidated my struggles and refused to listen or hear me. Spoke with an on-call psychiatrist at the QEH and he was multitudes better than Dr. Stewart. Her bedside manner is non-existent.

The first psychiatrist I felt comfortable with in a long time. She actually listens to the patient instead of treating them like a ‘crazy’ person. Kind and considerate. Receptionist is AMAZING.

Dr Stewart was my dependable psychiatrist for 11 years. I moved to another province and miss her greatly. I appreciated her wisdom and kindness. I always felt better after seeing her.

Dr Susan Stewart has been very helpful to me as her patient. She always is very thorough in her analysis of my mental health. She has been very helpful in finding the right medications for me paired with having a good sleep, exercise, eating proper foods and community supports. I feel as if she really tries to understand the whole picture of my wellness and she has been very helpful in regards to understanding my struggles with addiction and she has been an asset to me in my recovery from addiction. I think she is an experienced Doctor and I am very satisfied with her work.

This Dr kept me illegally at Hillborough Hospital for 3 months and subjected me to cruel and unusual treatment. I was never a threat to myself or others, just a rebellious young person! Traumatizes me to this day and needed a lot of therapy to repair the emotional damage caused by her actions.

Dr. Stewart has saved my life. The diagnosis she gave me should have been made by countless mental health professionals over the past 20 years. I will forever be thankful for her.
