Dr. Bernard was a super guy few years ago and now I'm not so sure..... It's okay to change career or find another job but a responsible doctor would understand the present situation regarding finding a doctor and be supportive at the very least with transitioning, instead of dropping someone off just with a letter and telling them to go to a walk-in clinic to get their meds for chronic conditions.

He lied to our face and told us that my family can still use the clinic for a year while we search for another doctor. I tried to make an appointment and of course they said no that is not the case at all.

After giving me a few months’ leave because I had told him I had bone pain and was always tired, instead of renewing my leave when it expired, he told me that I was chronically depressed and that « you people are oversensitive to pain » (I am part Indigenous). I then transferred to a real doctor who diagnosed me with multiple myeloma. I stayed with the new dr. McIntosh eventually sent me a letter telling he’d dumped me, but by that time, I already had a good dr. Many weren’t so lucky. He does not deserve to be a dr and should lose his licence.

No follow up. Didn't send my prescription to the pharmacy. Forgot to book my colonoscopy appointment. Given those, do you think he actually had a look at the results from my blood tests?

Dr MacIntosh was my doctor and now I'm not even sure. lol. His clinic is closed and I'm reading that he dropped a lot of his patients. But was I one of them? I have no idea. I mean, I guess I was but... thanks for the heads up, doc. But it's just as well. Every time I visited him I had to repeat my VERY IMPORTANT family history of heart disease.

I am glad to have him as my Doctor before he got me booted off without no warning, just letter, only because I went in for an appointment. I was glad I had him when he first moved to Ottawa. All I can say is I hope whatever he is going now,he is much happier. Been a Doctor's is not an easy job. But been caring is another thing. I am glad I found a new Doctor after 2 months of been discharged from been his patient.

A few years back with a different doctor I had a bad experience with a vaccine and was throwing up to the point of dry heaving from it so i was telling dr Bernard macintosh that I didn’t want any more vaccines after that bad experience so he wanted to put me on psych meds…what a prick. He flat out said I have mental problems and he wants to put me on meds from 1 brief interaction. He should lose his medical license in my opinion.

DO NOT reveal any anxiety about losing Dr. Macintosh as your family doctor. I knew as soon as the words come out of my mouth that I was now in the discarded pile.
The mood changed very suddenly and I was made to believe that is was somehow my fault as to why I no longer have a family doctor.
What's wrong with saying as your doctor or maybe just a human being that I am really sorry but I am changing my practice and I know you have zero chance of finding a new doctor, however I am forced to make this change ?

I felt very nervous and vulnerable when he gave me my discharge papers for my husband and I. I felt like it was an abuse of power. I laughed nervously and left. As I walked towards the front , his staff his knew I got the failing grade.
Luckily I was prepared by reading the previous reviews that this could happen to me too.
The reason why I gave so many stars is that he was a wonderful family doctor to me. I felt like I had won the jackpot when I was accepted as his patient. He was knowledgeable , empathetic, and reliable. He was a really important part in my getting better during a very difficult time.
He always took me seriously and I trusted him. I am not writing this review to crucify Dr. Macintosh . I believe somebody seriously needs to check in on him. I don think he is feeling very well and I think someone needs to step up and support him and get him some help.

He dropped my daughter with no warning even though she has a long history of depression and mental health issues. Extremely callous and unprofessional. Not sure how he can live with himself. Just a terrible and uncaring individual.

Dropped me and my family as patients without any warning at all. He got a new job and is shrinking his new practice aka dropping all his families. So now my kids and I have no doctor. And it’s impossible to find one. What a thoughtful and considerate man.
