I saw this sadistic little SOS several years ago. He was rude and unnecessarily rough with his exam. He must have been bullied as a child to become such a vindictive, unprofessional ingrate. He is retired now, so no one else will have to endure his childish behavior.

I had a kidney stone while in a business meeting in Birmingham, approximately an hour away. I went to the nearest hospital at the time, which happened to be St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham. The procedure to remove the kidney stone was performed at St. Vincent's the next day. 10 days later, I was back in Tuscaloosa and had another episode with a kidney stone. I went to the emergency department at DCH Regional Medical Center and they confirmed an additional stone. The emergency department physician told me that they would admit me and perform the lithotripsy procedure the next day, but a urologist would be in soon to speak with me. After waiting 2 1/2 hours on the urologist, Dr. Omar Smith finally arrived, only to begin questioning in a hateful tone of voice why I had the prior procedure performed in Birmingham. As I explained that I was there on business and was not about to consider riding back to Tuscaloosa for medical attention, he made the statement, " Everyone goes to Birmingham for their treatment, and then we get the headaches from it!" As he walked out of the treatment room, he slapped the nurse in the chest with my folder and stated, "I'm not treating it." The emergency department physician came back in the room with the attending nurse to apologize for Dr. Omar Smith's behavior and attitude, and he also informed me that they would no longer be admitting me. I have never heard of behavior such as this, and obviously it was all about the money for Dr. Smith! To refuse treatment for a kidney stone in the emergency department because I had a prior kidney stone procedure at another medical facility...unbelievable!

Very rude and seems angry all the time, I had 2 consults with him and both times I felt hurried and not worth his time. Needless negative comments and does not like for you to ask questions.

I was refered to Dr. Smith by my regular physian after an MRI revealed a cyst on kidney. I came to this sight and read the bad reviews and tried to schedule another doctor within the same group. They no open appointments so I kept my appointment with Smith. After waiting an hour and a half I asked the receptionist how soon would I see him. She replied he was running 30 minutews behind. It had already beeen over an hour, and when I brought that to her attention she said she meant "30 minutes from now. I cancelled and will reschedule with a more professional doctor. There were others in the waiting room who were also waiting and asked me if my doctor was Smith. I told them yes and recommeded them to see these reviews. Maybe he should go into auto mechanics.

He was very mean to me and my wife. He was not understanding and he told me how I felt, not the other way around. I had kidney stones and he put a stint in and told me I did not need pain medicine and when I came back to get the stint out he just ripped it out with out warning, or any pain relief before. His staff was just as mean as he was. The were very unhelpful. He took forever to see us and we had to wait for a long while. When I came to get the stint out he did not even look at me he just said lay down then he took out the stint and did not say a word. He does not have any compassion for his patients. He could care less if they are in pain. He just tells you how you feel, what is going to be done and leaves. He does not care about his patients at all.

Put me through major pain during exam. Sent me home with meds that didn't work and lied about helping if meds didn't work. Called to let them know and they called me the lier. Waited 2 hours on doctor to return from lunch just to find out he left for the day. His nurse was rude and unprofesional. Can't trust these people. Did more harm then good and refused to help there after. You can try them if you want but now you have been warned.
