Biography
Dr. Michael Mequio, MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery – including advanced technology intraocular implants. In addition to providing treatment of a wide range of eye disorders, Dr. Mequio treats patients with glaucoma, including selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) procedures and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS). Dr. Mequio earned his undergraduate degree at Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, MI. He graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine at the top of his class. Dr. Mequio then completed his residency training at Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit, serving as Chief Resident. Prior to joining St. Luke's Cataract & Laser Institute, Dr. Mequio practiced in Stockton, California and served in the United States Air Force, at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida. While active in the Air Force, he served as Chief of Ophthalmology at MacDill Air Force Base, where he also earned the Meritorious Service Medal. This honor is a military award presented to members of the United States Armed Forces who distinguish themselves by outstanding acts of service to the Unites States. Dr. Mequio has a passion for humanitarian medicine. Over the years, he has completed mission work in Zambia, The Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand.

Very relaxed ... Very informative.... Answered all of my questions seem to have cared about his field and patients.... Explained the procedure extensively... Tried to expelled all of my fears.... Which is difficult as my fears are huge.... I certainly hope the doctor who is gonna give me these shots in my eye he needs to put me in lala land....
