Not only is she hard working but she won't stop until it's perfect! She held my husbands and my families hand through a botched surgery of a skin cancer on the lip and reconstructed it. We live in Malibu and go to both offices, la and malibu. Her talent and precision stand above and beyond any dermatologist or surgeon we have seen

Here are the facts of my interactions with Dr. Vafaie's office:

1) I saw Dr. Vafaie on Aug. 26 for a mild skin condition. She prescribed antibiotics and scheduled a follow up appointment for Sept. 9, two weeks after starting the antibiotic.

2) It took me a week and a half to get the antibiotic due to several mess ups by her staff. First, my pharmacy requested a prior authorization form, which the staff never gave the doctor, so it never got signed. Then they tried to send the prescription to a pharmacy in Glendora, more than 30 miles from my home (why?). Then they called in a different antibiotic for me (because they still didn't want to fill out the pre-authorization form), but they sent it to the wrong pharmacy. Finally, the original pharmacist figured out what happened, and I was able to go the wrong pharmacy and pick up the antibiotic.

3) Since I didn't get my prescription until Sept. 6, I spoke to Lauren and we rescheduled my follow up appointment. Dr. Vafaie wanted to see me after I had two weeks of antibiotics in my system, so we decided to postpone my Sept. 9 appointment until a later date.

4) On Sept. 8, I received a text to "confirm" my Sept. 9 appointment. I called the office to say no, this appointment was rescheduled. Shanice said that if I didn't come, I would be charged a $50 cancellation fee. I was furious and started arguing with her. First of all, I rescheduled the appointment due to their errors with my prescription. They are the ones that did not update the appointment calendar. Second, coming to the appointment would be pointless since I hadn't been on the antibiotic long enough to make a difference. Shanice refused to admit to the scheduling error and kept insisting that I either come in or pay the fee. I was completely irate and basically had a tantrum on the phone.

5) Dr. Vafaie called me that evening after my blowout with Shanice. She was very nice and apologetic. She was horrified to learn about all the errors with the prescription and my appointment times. She wanted to make it up to me by offering me free product or whatnot, but that point, I no longer wanted to return. She understood and assured me I would not be charged $50 and that all future appointments would be removed from the calendar.

6) Several weeks later, I was billed for the $50 missed appointment fee. I called the office and spoke to Shanice who continued to lie about the scheduling mistake and insisted it wasn't their fault. She even said the doctor had left a message not to waive the fee, which didn't make sense based on the Sept. 8 conversation I'd had with her. Shanice then said she would waive the fee, but only if removed a negative review I had posted to Yelp. I refused, and we got into another fight.

7) About three days after this encounter with Shanice, I went to my primary doctor for a checkup. He informed me Shanice had called his office complaining about me and asking them to dump me as a patient! I was absolutely flabbergasted. My issues with Shanice and this practice should not extend to anyone else. Fortunately, my primary doctor and his staff are logical people (unlike Shanice). My doctor's nurse told her that no one wanted to get involved, and that they would NOT be dumping me. He also said it was a totally crazy sounding call and they made a note to never refer anyone to Dr. Vafaie.

8) I left my primary care's office and called Dr. Vafaie to get to the bottom of this. Lauren answered and said she would give Dr. Vafaie my message. About five minutes later, my phone rang like half a ring and stopped. The missed call was from Dr. Vafaie's office. So, I called it back and Shanice answered! She REFUSED to put me through to Dr. Vafaie. When I informed her why I was calling and knew all about the call she had placed to my primary care doctor, she denied the whole thing. Clearly she lied again. There is no way on earth my primary doctor could know that I am in a dispute with a dermatologist's office. They could not possibly make up something like that - obviously she called them.

9) Since I'm fairly certain that Dr. Vafaie is not getting a single message I leave, I'm still trying to get in touch with her to inform her about what's going on with her practice. She deserves to know. I tried calling her office again and was informed that no one would be taking further calls from me (as if I am the bad person in this scenario!). I looked up a cell phone number for Dr. Vafaie on WhitePages and sent her a text, but I don't know if it's an accurate number. I also sent her a request to connect via LinkedIn. Otherwise, all I can do is leave a review here and on other sites and hope she sees one of them and reaches out to me.

10) To add insult to injury, the prescription Dr. Vafaie gave me for the rash has done little to help. I finished the dose (a month of antibiotics!), and I'm not better. She probably misdiagnosed me.

11) I'm still not paying the $50 missed appointment fee! NEVER!
