Dr. Barden takes the time to make sure you understand his diagnosis and treatment plan. He takes a conservative approach and explains all the steps in his treatment plan. I had a meniscus tear in my left knee and Dr Barden fully explained the surgery and follow up care and therapy. I was back to work in a few days. When the same symptoms occurred in my right knee I did not hesitate to return to him for treatment.

Dr Barden is patient, pleasant and informative. He listens and answers all my questions. I've been very pleased to have him as my doctor. I haven't had surgery yet but certainly want him to do it when it becomes necessary. He is a very caring person.

Dr. Barden was amazing. I had rotator cuff surgery and it went exactly how he said it would be. He was very honest with me and that I like. He made himself available at all times. I could not have asked for a better doctor.

The prospect of surgery for a fractured hip (in four places) on my 93-year-old mother left me anxiety-stricken, and feeling helpless. Fortunately Dr. Barden was the surgeon called in to talk to my family about the injury and to offer advice about the next steps. I will always appreciate his candidness, his very clear explanations, and the depth to which he went to reassure us about the pros and cons (he even drew before and after sketches).

The wonderful experience of having Dr. Barden as a surgeon has evolved into much more than we expected. His follow-up is indeed a rare relationship building and maintaining approach (beyond the realm of merely performing a successful surgery). His concern is apparent, very apparently genuine, and extends beyond injury/recovery care into long-term. Dr. Barden is obviously hopeful that his work is significant towards a more comfortable and satisfying remainder-of-life for his patients, no matter how long.

My mother is recovering with the help of rehabilitation therapy, and we are grateful for the opportunity to learn from Dr. Barden. His excellent concern and counsel taught us that it is okay to ask questions of a medical professional, and in turn expect clear, concise, honest answers free of intimidation or awkwardness.

Dr. Barden is, by many accounts that I have heard or read about, one of the rare breeds. Dr. Barden is the kind of person and medical professional that I hope most of us will seek out if the unfortunate need for an orthopedic surgeon should arise.

First Dr. Barden is in Columbia, SC, not CT. He is not only a fantastic surgeon but he is also a very caring person. My 92 year old mother broke her hip and made himself totally available to me 24 hours a day and even gave me his cell phone number and answered his phone even though he was "off" that day and with his family. He is very aware that the family needs answers and information and he makes it a point to track the family member down to speak to them even if it means he has to make two trips up to the patients room. He came by every single morning to check on my mom. He is the best.

My experience with Dr Barden was fantastic!!! I had arthroscopic surgery and have recovered well and my hospital experience was amazing! I've had some bad hospital experiences and this one was the complete opposite. Dr. Barden was truly professional and fantastic!
