I had hip surgery in March of 2018. My surgeon, Dr. Doug Nowak was awesome. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for quality care. He communicated all of the options and all possible outcomes. He let me know what would be required of me for the best outcome and I believe that is why I have recovered so well. I am 59 years old and had some extenuating circumstances due to a previous injury. He went out of his way to help me and I am so thankful for his skill and bedside manner.

I had hip labral repairs on both of my hips by Dr Nowak and have gotten back to playing basketball, running and skiing with minimal discomfort. I am in my 40s and he told me my hips would never be "brand new," but hopefully better after the long recovery from surgery. I couldn't do any of these activities prior to my surgeries and am very happy to be active again. Thanks Dr Nowak!

I feel compelled to share my wonderful ongoing experience with DN, especially because some claim on here we are not real people leaving reviews. Hilarious! He is busy because he is good, if you wait a little longer to be seen, calm down...your dealing with the best in the state for this surgery! I had a labral repair and other things done in 2013--after that, three half ironmans, countless races, and feeling strong. He smart, trained with the best, essentially specializes in this surgery. I have many friends who have gone to him and he is not "surgery happy" or God-like saying he can fix you. He's honest, tells you like it is and reminds you that SURGERY HAS RISKS. Bodies respond differently the same surgery...anyone who blames this on him is beyond me. That was a risk you assumed as patient. I continue to be supported by him via check in's and consults. When/if my other hip needs seen to, I know where I will go. Been running and racing pain free for 5 years. Can't thank him enough! I am a real person, indeed, you can even find my blog about him online.

I live about 90 minutes from Dr Nowak's office and had found him from his training with Dr Marc Philippon. I sought multiple opinions before deciding to go forth with hip arthroscopic surgery by Dr Nowak about one year ago to address FAI and a labral tear. I am very happy with the result and am back to running pain free. It is a very long recovery with much therapy, but am very glad I went through it to be where I am now.

He's always at least 20 mins late for my appointment. He spent less than my wait time to talk to me and answer my question and concerns. I have a posterior labrum tear but he told me it's anterior. How can I trust him on doing my surgery? I highly suspect the good reviews here are not from real patiens.

I can't thank Dr. Nowak enough for getting me back to full activity after a labral repair and femoroplasty. He was kind, HIGHLY educated (if you do your research you know he trained with one of the top arthroscopic surgeons in the world) and was always and still is accessible to me even after a year post op! Dr. Nowak is honest and his protocol, if followed well, has been effective for me. I just ran my first half marathon back (PAIN FREE) 17 months after surgery and am fully training for a half ironman. He is a special person and surgeon. I will always highly recommend him to anyone seeing orthopedic advice.

After years of misdiagnosis, he finally figured what was wrong (hip impingement and labral tear). Now 2 years after surgery, I have run my first marathon pain free!

I found Dr. Nowak from other good reviews and was terribly disappointed when my experience did not live up to what I had heard. Dr. Nowak had performed acetabular and femoral plasty, repaired my labrum, and lengthened my psoas in my left leg in order to reduce the pain and snapping I was feeling. 6 months and thousands of dollars later, after a long rehab, my pain was MUCH worse than before the surgery. Without so much as an apology, Dr. Nowak had told me he didn't know why the surgery didn't work (after assuring me for 6 months that everything was fine). He didn't even order additional pictures of my hip to see if things had healed properly. After investing so much money and time, I'm still stunned by the nonchalance Dr. Nowak expressed when his surgery left me worse off. I'm in my 20's and had every reason to heal properly. I now have a life of limited mobility and pain ahead of me. Do not make the mistake I did and trust Dr. Nowak.

Dr Nowak helped me with a labral tear in my hip. We initially tried to avoid surgery with an injection and therapy. This helped for a while, but I eventually underwent a hip arthroscopy to repair my labrum. I am now 8 months from surgery and doing very well. Couldn't be happier with Dr Nowak.
