I took my mother to this "doctor". She had an appointment, however, the office system is first come first serve? We waited 5 hours for her to be seen by Dr. Hernandez. When she went in for her evaluation he was unsympathetic, cold and unapproachable. When I asked him questions he was uncommunicative, tight lipped and defensive. I called him 2 days later to verify what improvement I should see in my mother and he was upset with my level of questioning. I find his treatment disrespectful and lacking in professionalism. My time is as valuable as his and to keep a patient waiting 5 hours is abusive. Furthermore, he needs to improve his communication and patient focus because he is getting paid for his services.

I made a mental health appointment for 10 a.m., but come 11 a.m., I was still in the waiting room. When I told the secretary I needed to leave and that my appointment had been for 10 a.m., she said that the office was "first come first serve,"; however, when I had booked the appointment, I was given an appointment time and told nothing of the sort. It is extremely unprofessional to have someone wait an hour for a mental health appointment and I must really question the equity of such a system--why is it acceptable for people who have mental health needs to wait for hour-long appointments on a "first come first serve" basis? Could it be due to the assumption that people who need services are not also productive members of societies who have schedules and lives that they are trying very hard to work around an appointment? On top of this, the secretary was extremely unprofessional and rude.
