I had the great luck of finding Dr. Gamez after I got an infection in my foot from a previous surgery. I spent almost a year going to see surgeons that said they might be able to help me with my foot pain. At that point I had lost my insurance and then got new insurance so the Dr. that did the original surgery would not see me since he did not accept my insurance. I was in a lot of pain and was seeing a pain management dr. since that was all that could be done while I was between insurance. It scares me that nobody did the simple test that Dr. Gamez did that lead to my pain going away. I had been going and seeing Dr.s and most said they couldn't do anything, some said that the Xray did not match the level of pain I was " Claiming " to have and accused me of drug seeking (even though I did not ask for anything other than options for fixing my foot so I could stop taking pain meds). But Dr. Gamez and another Dr. were 2 that said they could help me. I went with Dr. Gamez because he seemed more personally invested in making my foot and life better. At this point I had first crashed a dirtbike and crushed most of the bones in my foot, had surgery to pin them, then after one died and I had a fusion and plate. It had never fully healed and the plate along with a few screws had broken . I figured that was why it hurt, I was walking around on a broken foot. But he ran a blood test, found signs of infection and I was operated on the next week. It turned out to be a MRSA infection and I had to have 2 more surgeries to clean it all out and clear the infection along with PIC lines and multiple courses of antibiotics. With each surgery ,somehow the pain became less and less. Even right after surgery , while my foot was black and blue, it hurt less after the first few days , than before that round of surgery. Now 10 years later I am doing better than I ever dreamed I would! No more pain meds for around the same amount of time, and relatively pain free . My foot is fused and I have limited movement, but I am now able to go walk around a store, hike, ride a bicycle and do many other things pain free. I am so thankful for the time I spent in Dr. Gamez's care. I would recommend him to anybody who is looking for a skilled Dr. that really cares about the people he is helping. I feel like Dr. Gamez helped save my life, if not literally, he made the quality of life so much better than I dreamed it could be when I was in pain and hunting for help. Because of him I look forward to the first step of the day. WHen before I dread getting out of bed and putting my foot on the floor, it would settle into the swollenness and be painful right away. getting up to go the bathroom at night would have me awake for hours after. That and so many other minor things were painful and are now just another part of the day that I am so very thankful I now can do without them being a big deal. Thank You Dr. Gamez
