Biography
Joshua G. Schkrohowsky, M.D. is an orthopedic surgeon with specialty training in sports medicine and ACL surgery. He trained under some of the world’s leading orthopedic knee and ACL surgeons, including Dr. Freddie Fu of Pittsburgh, the pioneer of the anatomic double-bundle ACL reconstruction, and Dr. Roland Becker of Germany, the current President of AGA-Society for Arthroscopy and Joint Surgery. Dr. Schkrohowsky earned his medical degree from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, widely regarded as one of the world's greatest hospitals. He completed the internationally renowned orthopedic surgery residency program at The University of Pittsburgh with an emphasis on sports medicine. While in Pittsburgh he served as team physician to the Duquesne University Men’s and Women’s Soccer teams. After residency, he pursued fellowship training in sports traumatology at the Sports Clinic Austria in Innsbruck under Drs. Christian Fink and Christian Hoser, team physicians for the Austria Ski Team. Dr. Schkrohowsky has participated in extensive research activities and has published more than 15 scientific articles and a book chapter. He has presented his research at national and international meetings. He has an interest in international medicine having led or volunteered on several medical trips to Africa, the Middle East, and Central America. Dr. Schkrohowsky is board eligible by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). He is also a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery (AAOS), the European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA), the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA), Washington State Orthopaedic Association (WSOA), and the The Johns Hopkins Medical and Surgical Association (JHM&SA). Dr. Schkrohowsky lives with his wife, Cynthia, and their four children in Winthrop, Washington. He has an affinity for the mountains and enjoys skiing, travel, and time with his family.
