First, staff was snooty and rude. Secondly, the doctor treated me like I was not worthy of being helped. He told me not once but three times I was high risk because I am obese. I'm overweight but not ridiculously. He cut down my primary doctor and the previous treatment I received. He cut me down for medication that I take for another condition that has nothing to do with my back and showed absolutely no interest in getting to know me as a patient. Was told to go to physical therapy and come back and let him know what they said. He offered no suggestions as to what I should or shouldn't be doing in the meantime. I also had a previous surgery over 20 years ago on L4 and he argued it was most likely L5. I'm not an idiot, I know what I had for surgery not to mention it was over 20 years ago, the MRI isn't going to clearly show that. My spine doctor and PCP say my current condition is serious and this doctor blew me off and said he wasn't concerned at all despite my weakness, numbness and complete lack of reflex in knee. I complained to ethics.

Don’t waste you time .. I will actually be filling a complaint ... I went for my first appointment by myself and he was so interested in the fact that he was going on vacation and wanted to schedule surgery within 10 Days ... I had an uneasy feeling so told his staff that I would prefer to seek alternative treatments before committing to something as big as back surgery ... after the alternative treatments were not working I went back to this dr who basically told me that any intelligent person would know that leaving it 4 months would cause the effectiveness of surgery to be a waste of time ... he basically called me an unintelligent narcotics addict .... I took a friend with me this time who was horrified at his actions .. I left the office in floods of tears and had a panic attack in the parking lot thinking of being in pain for the rest of my life ...

Dr.Urquia is an extremely talented surgeon. I had a C5-C6 fusion 3 years ago and it was a great success. He has good bed side manner and treats his patients with respect.

DR. David Urquia is so intelligent, very professional, & very kind. You would be in the best of hands if you needed a doctor re: orthopaedics! 27+yrs/experience. He helps you understand fully what you issue is. I was very lucky that my general doctor recommended him for my spine operation! My thanks to him, sincerely. - Harmony Millett

Balloon kyphoplasty he performed on me was not successful in restoring vertebral height and relieving pain from fractures in my thoracic spine, and he would not address the pain from a fracture in my lumbar spine. He said to "come back when you have more pain."
