I have a lot of respect for Dr Chang. He is a highly qualified expert in his field and able to relate to people in a human and caring manner. I trust him and his decisions. God guides his hands.

This MD is irresponsible. He performed a brain tumor removal surgery on my father which unexpectedly left my father permanently paralyzed on one side of the body waist down. In the first six weeks after the surgery, Dr. Chang told us to just to wait and do more PT. After six weeks, it never got better. When we asked him for advice again, he just tried to distant from us and shrug off this failed surgery. His failed surgery left my father with 2.5 years of miserable bed-bound life before passing away due to complications. The surgery which was told by Dr. Chang as an easy one - right frontal lobe, 5mm tumor , obviously didn't go as easy as he expected. Worse, nor did he even show he ever cared about the results. Dr. Chang should NOT work in the care industry.

I found him to be very cold and distant. He kept me waiting for over an hour in an examination room and then spent less than 15 minutes with me. He did not explain the results of my MRI except to say that my tumors had not grown since my last MRI seven years ago, He then told me that I should have an MRI yearly to watch their progress! The staff who performed my MRI was great, very attentive, helpful and considerate., unlike Dr. Chang! I traveled over 200 miles to see him and he made me feel like I was wasting his time! Well, I feel like I wasted my time and I will seek professional help elsewhere.

UCSF Oral Surgeons and dentists misdiagnosed my pain from a dental implant one of their OS's placed for over a decade as being "psychological." In excruciating, horrific pain, I was finally referred to Stanford. I was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia. Dr.Chang is extremely compassionate and understands every single symptom a Trigeminal Neuralgia patient goes through. Dr.Chang send me for an MRI at Stanford. Dr.Chang very thoroughly & clearly explained the branches of the Trigeminal nerve to me. And also my MRI results and all my treatment options. Dr.Chang did my brain surgery (MVD). For any patient who has Trigeminal Neuralgia (or any medical problem related to the human brain). I highly recommend Stanford and Neurosurgeon Dr.Steven D.Chang.
