i had a hip replacement 6/25/13 and have been in severe pain ever since. dr shah did an anterior approach which has a great risk of damaging the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve. and that is exactly what happened. i had to go for a second opinion since dr shah would not tell me he had damaged the nerve. dr shah is a nice person but a bad surgeon . not only did he damage the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve he also made the leg one inch longer. he denies that too. it is hard for him to get away with that since the great leg length discrepancy is easy to see. i would not recommend dr. shah or the anterior approach.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND !!Dr. Shah recently did an anterior hip replacement on me. I was in the process of interviewing surgeons to find the best one for me to do my surgery. The moment I met Dr. Shah I knew he was the right surgeon for me. His technical knowledge is superior. He took the time to explain everything to me, welcomed my questions and was not in a hurry to get out of the office. I chose to be awake during surgery (had a spinal block) and I did not have the drug that gives you amnesia so I can speak from experience that Dr. Shah is a phenomenal surgeon. No nonsense get in there and get it done. When it came time to fit the prosthesis he was very, very picky. He had one that wouldn't dislocate but it was too sloppy in his opinion so he tried a different size. Kept having pictureS taken so that he could get it as perfect as possible. Wonderful man, excellent bedside manner and he is humble (not full of himself like many a medical professional can be). HIGHLY RECOMMEND !!

Excellent, caring, knowledgeable surgeon. Very willing to provide information needed to make an educated decision. Warm, friendly personality - more like a family practice doctor than a surgeon. My hip replacement went smoothly, followup care was excellent. I recommend Dr. Shah enthusiastically.

Dr. shah attempted to do a routine hip replacement on my grandmother. While in surgery he fractured her femur which caused internal bleeding. This has avalanched into destroyed kidneys, malfunctioning liver, bleeding of the bowels, cardiac arrest and an unknowable outcome. She is so swollen with her own urine, due to inability to drain fluids, that she is unrecognizable. ALL OF THIS CAME FROM A ROUTINE SURGERY. Dr. Shah should not be allowed to practice medicine for he has been careless and casual about the whole situation. His staff of nurses have been conversing about television and their daily life while our family is in mourning only a few feet away. Please don't allow your loved ones to be under the care(lessness) of Dr. Shah. He took a completely well-functioning 84 year old woman that lived alone in a two story house and hand sewed gifts for all of her family members, to a unresponsive bloated vegetable who might not even survive.
