Unfortunately, I am in agreement with many of these reviews. Dr. Kraus is pleasant to speak with, however he should not be doing custody evaluations.

20k for his "services", and the first meeting he brings up the bad reviews stating that he leaves them since typically they are from the losing party.

Sessions seemed fine with Dr. Kraus, but as he was writing his report, he started asking basic questions we reviewed several times. The report came out and it could have been written by a 5th grader. Grammar errors throughout, names of people wrong, mountains of evidence and paperwork just completely ignored, and countered everything Dr. Kraus led me to believe were the issues he also had seen.

The most damaging part of Dr. Kraus' involvement and report was a simple phrase indicating that there was no findings of abuse. For anyone who has gone through any abuse, this statement minimizing your experience is completely negligent from a professional, in particular one who did not contact witnesses provided and ignored text messages and photos of "no abuse". If you have any say, please avoid this man. He is yet another court "professional" that is really harming people that need support. I do not understand how these professionals live with the lives they are destroying.

I do not believe that this man should be allowed to practice medicine. He is arrogant and incompetent. He clearly does not have any sympathy or compassion for his patients.

Scam artist parasite of the court system. Psychiatric evaluation money train and this guy is the master at taking the money. His laziness and disregard is dangerous to society in that lives are affected by what he does or doesn’t do. Not surprised to see all the low ratings. Run fast from this guy.

After reading all these posts like my experience I felt it was time to come together and find a way to stop Kraus. I created a website called www.stopkraus.com. I will start by saying in his 604B evaluation I was given final decision on everything, including extra-curricular activities. So, if you look at a 604B as a win or loss (which I do not) I WON EFERYTHING. So, don’t let this man pretend all those negative complaints are from people who lose. This man needs to be reported to Illinois Dept of Financial and Professional Regulations, circuit court, and Rush.



I happen to know some doctors from Rush and was warned up front to find a way to get Dr. Kraus removed. As all of us know it is impossible to remove this guy and our son’s GAL, chose him. I can’t tell you how many bills I received from GAL where they were in contact. As was also pointed it out their relationship, whether ethical or not, just does not smell correct. Dr. Kraus, as seems to be in every report is extremely arrogant and I was warned to always agree with anything he says, or he will turn on you. Well as I will document later, I did question him and he was almost violent, to a point I was scared in his closed-door office. Which he is always alone during out meetings in the evenings. His admin was not there, and it was just he and I. Scary to be honest.



Dr. Kraus is one of most incompetent, unethical and immoral people that can be close to a position of determining child custody. As has been mentioned in so many posts he is a scatterbrain. I spent so many hours preparing documentation that he requested on my first visit. He also constantly was asking me about my sex life, wanted pictures, commented over and over about how pretty she is, etc. He asked me over and over to supply same information I already supplied. He even had nerve to ask for them last minute as he already said he was done with report. So really, he was done and now needs information again. He said he lost all this information because he broke his phone. Really what the heck does his phone had to do with these reports. No way hundreds of pages, 3 DCFS reports, Court transcripts from two states, etc. can be read on a phone and who in their right mind saves attachments on a phone and removes from server??? This is compounded with how wrong his facts were in many cases. He had comments made by me reversed by comments made by our son’s mother. Some major stuff he was told by a family therapist we were using where I was physically hit was just missing. Yet he documented comments out of left field, as they say, without any form a proof. He is just incompetent.



Just like other posts, he met our child one time alone for 5 minutes on first visit and one attempt for our son to meet with his mother, that too lasted 5 minutes with our son running from room and nowhere to be found. Fortunately, our son let it be known where he went. He could have ran into major street just outside, this man has no clue.



This man is so unethical. I was asked to find a psychiatrist to evaluate our son. He was adamant to use some doctor that shares an office with his wife. I said to myself “Really”. Last thing I want is a known unethical person to have any control over who I chose for a psychiatrist, let alone someone in his wife’s office. Plus, this person takes no insurance, what a scam. I found a great doctor, in network, at North Shore. I sent a text to Dr. Kraus person I found. He sent a text back saying great doctor, he trained him. After our son’s evaluation, it was determined all our son has is an adjustment disorder. Dr. Kraus did not like his diagnosis and threatened to contact him to change his opinion. I informed Dr. Kraus I had full access to Epic (recording technology from North Shore). He turned on me at that moment. He wanted a diagnosis of highly functional Autism. Well our son has seen a therapist for reunification and one to see what else a therapist does. All these experts made it clear there are no signs of Autism in our son. But to “kiss Kraus’s you know what” I called him to let him know if he felt a study was needed, I would reach out to psychiatrist. BTW his psychiatrist saw no reason for any follow-up. Dr. Kraus was an amazing advocate for my daughter, and dug deep into our custody dispute to make his recommendation. Yes, he is only concerned about the child, not the parents, and does get to the overall truth, where parents may or may not be pleased. Thank you, Dr. Kraus!

Dr. Kraus doesn't just go through the motions like most custody evaluators. He digs deep into the facts and the issues and really challenges parents to find out the truth. He won't be outsmarted even by the best sociopath. If you don't agree with his opinion, you may want to take a more honest look at yourself.

Do not use this doctor for any court evaluation for custody. He is horrible and should lose his license. He did not review evidence given to him nor did he call other professionals involved with my child’s treatment. He ignored 4 domestic violence reports to which the other parent has plead guilty. Shame on the Illinois court system for allowing this doctor to be involved in forensic examination for child custody cases. I would have liked to give this moron zero or negative stars.

I'm not sure what these reviews are speaking about except to say that they were probably parents that didn't get what they wanted so they are complaining. He is nothing but focused on child. And yes sometimes I don't like what he says about ME but it's about my child. These reviews are immature - not the dr. Your child would be fortunate to have such an intelligent and responsive dr on THEIR side.
