Dr. Balch was the surgeon on duty when my daughter was rushed to the Scripps Mercy hospital while on vacation in San Diego last month. After it was confirmed that she had an acute appendicitis, Dr. Balch paid us a visit in the emergency room to provide her options. We were visiting from Canada, and he recognized how hard this was for us. He took lots of time to explain the options and the surgerical procedure. He also explained the possible complications that could arise. Since we were not from San Diego and we were far from home, he was a calming presence and made us feel very confident in his ability. He was also sympathetic to my daughter's fears since this would be her first ever surgery. As a mother, I am forever grateful to him. My daughter is now home and recovering nicely.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. David G. Balch for his professionalism and care of my health and life. I came to Dr. Balch with a double hernia. He questioned me about my general health and any health issues. I explained that I have had 5 heart attack and was under a cardiologist care. He explained to me that he would have to contact my cardiologist before proceeding with any surgery. After the meeting of the minds they felt it would be to the best of my health to come off Plavix before the surgery, but only do 1 at a time. The surgeries went as planned. Today I am a health 71 year old active male. If it wasn't for the special care giving by Dr. Balch who know might of happen. If you are looking for a caring Surgeon I would highly recommend Dr. Balch

Doctor Rocky (David) Balch is a really good surgeon I got surgery 2 weeks ago for gallbladder removal and haven't had any pain at all just a sore kind of feeling that's completely normal after this surgery but no other problems at all. I would really recommend this surgeon to my friends and family members. He explained everything to me really well & my wounds are now almost healed. Thank you Dr Rocky my blessings to you and your work group all the nurses and staff . Thank you again!!

My experience with Dr. David G. Balch and his staff for a minor surgical procedure was exceptional!! My need for pain meds afterwards was non-existent and the scar site is healing beautifully! I will definitely refer my family and friends to Dr. David G. Balch.

Dr. Balch performed a triple hernia procedure for me, he was very knowledgeable and made sure to explain the procedure and all possible compilations. He fully explained recovery and prevention of recurrence. He was confident that it could be done laproscopicly, reducing recovery time and pain. He warned me that if it was too difficult extra incisions may have to be made. Even though all three hernias were worse than had been expected, he was still able to do the procedure as planed. He had my pain meds delivered to the hospital and was very helpful both pre and post surgery. He even called on Sunday to see how I was doing. Every step of the process was easier than I expected! He is a great surgeon and a very caring person. I would definitely recommend him!!!
