My issue was severe arthritis in my left ankle. I put off surgery while I completed an intensive search for the right surgeon for me. Dr. Neufeld was that surgeon. I waited for almost two years to post this review because I had to "kick the tires" and make sure the surgery held up. I used to limp badly in constant pain and now I am hiking with no pain and no limp. Well done, Doc. What I like about Dr. Neufeld beyond his surgical skills are his quiet but confident demeanor. A good listener who answers all questions with no condescension, rather with straight forward answers. Also a thank you and shout out to Dr. Nathaniel Shaefer. Dr. Nate helped me post surgery. You both literally and figuratively know you are "in good hands" with Dr. Nate. This review is my way of expressing my gratitude to both.

Great experience from initial visit to excellent outcome. We felt informed of our choices and we had a great partnership in making decisions with Dr Neufeld.

Dr Neufeld, I wanted to thank you, and your wonderful, and knowledgeable staff, for the care I received before and after my foot surgery. Dr. Neufeld, you are a very skilled, and compassionate surgeon. This is my 4th right foot surgery, and I wasn't necessarily looking forward to it. But now I wished I had found you earlier. It would have saved me a lot of discomfort. Kudos to Constance for here excellent wound care. I highly recommend Dr. Neufeld at the Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Center

I was happy with Dr. Neufeld's treatment and the facilities he used. My cost after insurance reimbursements seemed modest. Dr. Newfeld's surgery has let me resume the activities my foot problem had prevented. I'm able to exercise more now and have lost some weight. My experience at Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Center and with Dr. Neufeld was excellent.

The wait at this office was 1.5 hours. Not kidding. After waiting and then sent to the xray room for perfunctory xrays which were never reviewed (insurance charge) and then further waiting when Dr. Neufeld appeared to diagnose my ankle as a partial tear of my achilles after 60 seconds, I was provided the market's most expensive boot of which insurance picked up only a portion of this. (more insurance charges). I have never seen an operation less focused on patient care and more focused on maximizing billables than this one. He suggested that his office would follow up to determine if there was additional PT needed, but I only received a bill. Would never recommend this office to anyone else.

I first went to see Dr. Neufeld after surgery for a neuroma & bunion. I was put in a flimsy shoe-boot, and I fell during the second week, causing the subject foot to swell, discolor and heal poorly. I went to Dr. Neufeld about 6 months later to see if he could fix the bone that protruded from the bottom of my foot. He said he could, I said I needed to think about it. I went back a month later with a question, and he said I needed hammer toe surgery - a different surgery than he said at the first visit. I questioned him about the first visit, and he denied having had the discussion that I distinctly remember. He wouldn't even discuss it. I would never go back to him.

I used Medicare (primary) & United Healthcare (secondary). I had a very deformed foot largely caused by incompetent surgery performed 27 years ago by an HMO-recommended podiatrist. Dr.Neufeld did an outstanding job of correcting the resulting bunion, hammer toe, & bone spur with minimum amt. of pain & disruption to me. Gave excellent follow-up care. He was honest prior to surgery in stating probable outcomes. Prescribed appropriate amt. of painkillers to get me through worst of it immediately following the surgery. Besides being medically extremely competent, Dr. Neufeld & his staff are compassionate & personable. Added plus: having a shoe & shoe accessory store within the office to help me select appropriate footwear following the surgery to help me avoid developing future foot problems. I highly recommend Dr. Neufeld for foot and ankle problems. After 3 months, I can safely say I have fully recovered & am leading a normal life. His current address: Falls Church VA (Merrifield)
