We had a wonderful experience. My daughter worked with Wendy weekly and made great strides.

My daughter had vision therapy weekly during her entire 2nd grade year, Dr. Margolis was thorough and compassionate for the majority of the time but during the last visit he made a comment in front of my daughter that no doctor should say. "I cannot help it if your daughter is lazy." My daughter is far from lazy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, vision therapy, homework that takes 3 hours each night...does not sound lazy to me rather driven to succeed. He perceived her as lazy because she continued to skip words when reading especially little ones, did not sound out words well, and continued to flip "d" and "b". All signs of DYSLEXIA. Dyslexic individuals work twice as hard as their peers, have high IQs, and have all the symptoms she had. All too often prior to diagnosis people say horrible comments such as this to young impressionable children with a developing self-esteem. I will not go back to him again and all those who have had said similar comments to my daughter I will not associate with. My daughter deserves to be surrounded by those that respect and support her. I truly think Dr. Margolis need to brush up on his differential diagnosis of extraocular eye weakness vs dyslexia. Vision therapy is not covered by most insurances because it is not viewed as effective, read the statement regarding vision therapy from the American Academic of Pediatrics and also from the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Wish we would have been more informed on the questionable effectiveness of vision therapy had been referred to a neuropsychologist sooner, and not wasted a year.

Vision therapy does not cure or help dyslexia. Do your research before scheduling.
