Similar to review of Sept 25 2015. Too bad I didn't come across it earlier. She took on a prosthetic reconstruction case that had been poorly done by a prior dentist in Woodstock Vt, assuring me that she was the one to do it. The cost was astronomical, and as the process went on it became clear that she was not at all the expert she claimed to be. There was no diagnostic aspect to the procedure, she merely did a poor job obtaining a bite record then relied on the lab to supposedly solve the complex anatomical and functional issues. What I got was nothing more than a prettier version of the same poorly positioned prosthetic, with no correction of any anatomical nor functional aspect. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, she was very 'gaslight-y' and highly resistant to investigating my concerns, saying that if I wanted it re-done I would have to pay more.
Now the work is being completely redone yet again by a PROPER PROSTHODONTIST, and it is becoming increasingly clear that my instincts were correct: that Dr Shanard did not know what she was doing and SHOULD NOT be working on patients who require the expertise and skills of actual prosthodontists. I believe it was highly unethical for her to accept my case and put me through such anxiety and misery, not to mention a small fortune that I will certain try to get back.

Very similar situation to previous review submitted Feb 5, 2013. My husband also refuses to go back to her. She knew my husband was a business owner and totally took advantage of him. She charged him thousands of dollars above what should be the usual and customary charges and promised him wonderful results. Not only did he not get wonderful results but he paid a LOT of money for work she did that he is now having to go to another dentist to fix correctly. He just got done dealing with a very painful infected abscessed tooth that she supposedly fixed and he is now being told everything she had done in his mouth wasn't done right. She is still trying to bill us for the remaining balance which he refuses to pay. She should be paying him back for thousands of dollars he already paid for work not done correctly and is needing to be done over by someone else. Steer clear people. She is only interested in your money, not your well being.

Dr. Shanard's work is exceptional, beautiful, and pain-free. She is kind and caring as a human being and meticulous as a dentist. If you have previously experienced dental allergies, this is where you go. She and her team will find what works. I travel four hours to see this dentist; she is truly worth it.

I've been a patient there for the past 10+ years. My spouse refuses to return after some less than gentle treatment. In the beginning there was a fantastice staff, but they've all moved on and the turnover is very high. I've always felt they cared more about what's in my pocket than what's in my mouth, but for the last few years it's become ridiculous. Not long ago they did a completely unnecessary waiting room makeover including granite counters, custom cherry cabinetry, berber carpet and an enormous portrait of all the staff that are no longer even there. While doing some work on my mouth, Dr. Shanard went on and on about her trip to Aspen and another upcoming trip, her son's new mountain bike, etc. I'm having my records transferred and dissolving our professional relationship.
