My elderly grandmother had a follow up from an ER visit. We went to her appt on time, and waiting in the exam room for 1.05 hrs. There was one other patient in the entire office. I was livid that she would be treated this way. When I asked if this was normal, she told me yes. How can a DR. treat his patients this way. I will take the time and find her a Dr. that cares.

Great Doctor. Horrible front desk staff. Scheduling is horrific. Wait to be seen varies from 1/2 hour to 2+ hours!

Where did they find this staff from? They are the worst, and make you feel like you are always bothering them. It's time to hire new people, I don't know why they are tolerated. I've never dealt with such a rude bunch. The nurses are fine. It's the people at the front desk. And I don't think I've ever called without being put on hold, they don't even give you a chance to answer, they just put you on hold. Very irritating. But, Dr. Purcell is worth it, I trust him, and he seems to really care about his patients. My husband and I have been going to him for years. Just wish they would hire new people. The Skylands in Blairstown and Jefferson have much nicer people. Not sure why the ones in Landing are so bad. I'm seriously thinking about going to another office.

I have been extremely unhappy with Dr. Purcell and his staff. They are rude and unprofessional. Dr. Purcell while caring, does not seem to have knowledge beyond the basics. I went in for overall pain and he wanted to put me on an anti-depressant!!!! I decided to pursue another PCP/internist who has served me much better and is not trying to push drugs!!!!

I agree, the staff is Very unorganized. My Husband was a patient of Doctor Purcell for many years, he does take his time if you need to talk to him but, I have to say, my husband went to see him least 1-2 month for headaches, fatigue, and his bones where hurting. I can back this up with proof. Not once did that doctor Ever.. do a cbc on my husband. Until it was to late. The Wednesday on Feb. 5th he sent my husband for a cbc and bleed time test. (FAILED) Then sent him home and Said "be careful when you shave". Little did we know my husband was dying. The lab should have called the doctor that minute. As the night went on he got worse... so I called Purcell's answering service, the on call doctor called me back... I told him what was happening and asked which hospital do you treat out of... his words were we don't do hospitals visit. I hung up on him, drove my husband to St. Clare's. within 10 hours he was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia and dying.. year later... remission . so?

I had a fever for two days and the staff of the skylands office are so pathetic and disorganized. I called several times and they never called me back. I finally had my mother call and had to see another doctor later in the day who did not check any of my vitals to see why I had a fever??? I am still sick and will never go back to those careLESS doctors ever again!! Poor communication with the patients if any.

My family of 3 all see Dr.Purcell and have for about 18 years. He is the best Doctor we have ever had. Most of the time and when needed he takes all the time you need to listen and explain. As a GP, he treats us as a family and individuals. I just can not say enough good things about him. He returns calls and even makes calls when a test is not normal, or you are very ill. He has seen me in the hospital when he was not part of the case. He has treated my 20 yr. old for his whole life, and we all love him. Unfortunately I have seen many doctors, and I just wish they could be like Dr. Purcell. We are lucky to have him!! I agree that the staff can be a little harsh at times and the waiting can be a little long sometimes. But there are some in his staff who are great, the nurses (Pat) and others in the back like Arlene are helpful and kind. It is the front desk that is a bit of an issue but I find a lot of other Dr.s staff are like that also.
