Dr Rodarte is always knowledgeable and helpful. He never talked over my head and always took time to explain things in layman's terms. However I've had terrible experience with their staff. His contract with my insurance expired and they missed the renewal and still took appointments with patients. Then when the out of network bills came in they tried to pass the buck that the insurance never sent a renewal notice. Shouldn't they know when their contracts are up too? They also forced us to pay the extra costs for the visits that they weren't in network and they didn't know. They said that once they found out they let patients know but neither my wife and I remember them mentioning anything about Dr. Rodarte being out-of-network.

I understand them charging if all parties are aware of the mistake and we have choices about cost, but we paid over $200 extra for appointments that we made not knowing we were seeing an out-of-network doctor. Are we expected to check our insurance every single time we see a doctor we've seen for years to make sure nothing's changed? When pressed with these questions, the response was "It wasn't our fault. We didn't get the notice." "Can't you use your Health Savings Account to pay for those charges? That's what other patients did. " No considering that we have other medical/dental costs to pay for, and didn't account for them screwing up their contracts. No claiming of any responsibility at all. No trying to help off set costs to work things out. Extremely frustrating. Please avoid Visalia Family Practice Medical Group.

Dr. Rodarte is very knowledgable in the area of diabetes; he has been my dr for over 10 yrs and I am very pleased with him and his staff.
