I saw Dr. Sakamoto years ago when he practiced in Oakland, but one visit has stuck with me ever since. He inquired about the physical effects of my PCOS diagnosis and specifically about the extra hair growth I have. I experience enough shame and depression due to PCOS so when he asked to see my hair growth and seemed visibly disgusted and then scorned me for my method of hair removal (shaving) I was shocked and embarassed. Treating patients with PCOS is a part of being an ob/gyn. So is not being disgusted by the condition or shaming your patients for having it. Maybe he's great as an ob. But I needed a lot more compassion and help for my condition.
