Mistake 1: I had meniscus tear in my LEFT knee and scheduled an appointment with Doctor David Downs, he /his assistant recommended MRI for my RIGHT knee. How can a doctor be so careless?

Mistake 2: After getting MRI done, I called at the reception to book for follow up appointment and the receptionist said the doctor is not available presuming I don’t have MRI report without even asking me. When I called her back after checking the availability of Dr Downs at zocdoc she booked the appointment clarifying MRI report become available after 3 days of getting MRI done. After I informed her I already have MRI report she booked the appointment on the said date.

Mistake 3: I was told by Tracy ( who is Dr. Downs assistant) that they are covered under my insurance network and She scheduled a pre op for my knee surgery after checking with my insurance provider which she specifically stated “ they are covered under my insurance network ”.Though she couldn’t tell me tentative out of pocket expense for the surgery despite of me asking her several times. After I called my insurance network, I was informed that the Doctor is not covered in my insurance network. I called back Tracy to check about the same. She responded: “I called your insurance network and they said Dr Downs is covered in my insurance network”. Had I need checked and rechecked 3 time with my insurance provider before the surgery I would have ended up paying 5 times of what I need to pay under my insurance. Tracy is rude and not approachable. She also provides incorrect information and doesn’t care about the bedside manner

More interested in return visits then in providing good helpful info. I had to be on my game to ask the right questions and hold Downs and staff accountable. Typical of M.D. medical industry. if you shop around I think you can find more respectful and caring Doctors and staff than this.

Dr Downs scoped my right knee to repair the meniscus and clean out some OA. My knee is a mess after surgery. I don’t trust his rockstar groupie wannabe PA who tells me I will never run again. No follow up from the Downs at all. Would not let this guy clean under my fingernails.

On Wednesday, August 17, 2011, Dr. David Downs operated on my left shoulder. Five years later it is still not healed and I am still in quite bit of pain and stiffness. Since I was dismissed from his practice shortly after he operated. I had to find another orthopedic surgeon. Last year I went back to an orthopedic surgeon I saw for the first time in 2012. There is talk about the possibility of rotator cuff surgery. I am not happy that more surgery is necessary on my left shoulder.

I think Dr. Downs is not a very good orthopedic surgeon and I would not recommend him to anyone.

I showed up with a very painful elbow that had been getting worse for 5 weeks. Tennis elbow. 3 x-rays tennis elbow alright, no arthritis. He sends me home with an ace bandage and tells me to take aleve for 10 days and come back if that doesn't work! I am 62 years old. I would not be spending time or money if I didn't need real medicine. MOre interested in a return visit than addressing my pain. Danny Davis.
