Took my husband to see him ONCE. Was not impressed. He ignored everything we said and instead was fixated on everything being in my husband's head (well - chronic migraines, duh!) and instead he was anxious and depressed.
Do not waste your time or money on this provider. We went to the Neurologist in Moultrie and got a referral to Mayo where we got answers.

Twice they have rescheduled an appointment months in the making because the doctor was traveling. So either his staff has no idea what Dr. Ayala's schedule is when they make appointments or the Dr. doesn't care what on his schedule when he plans to travel. Either way it is the least professional doctor's office I have ever encountered, and that is really saying something. It would be great if doctors cared about their patients.

I was referred to Dr. Ayala for a diagnosis of essential tremors, a neurological problem I have had for as along as I can remember that just recently started affecting my work. I have had some anxiety after being diagnosed and was looking to find some relief and information on treatment options, but this doctor left me feeling confused and very uneasy. After examining me he told me that I had TMJ (I don't believe I do), need to wear a mouth guard so I do not grind my teeth, that I m smiling with my teeth too much and should be "smiling with my tongue", and that I am going to do damage to my facial muscles if I don't practice "yawning ten times every hour." This doctor barely covered my diagnosis and he rambled on about other issues that were completely irrelevant. He had wrote me a prescription for what I thought was for my ET, and after leaving and looking up the medication realized it was for major depressive disorder - something I told him I did not have. He did not take the time to thoroughly examine me and discuss the issue in which I had came to his office for. I did not fill the prescription nor do I trust that he knows what he is talking about. That, or he simply does not care. Either way, I will not be returning to this doctor and I advise youth do your research and spend your time and money elsewhere before considering Dr. Ayala. I am in complete disbelief about the things he discussed during this appointment.

Don’t waste your time. He did not listen to a word I said about the devastating specific nerve-related pain I have, fixated on a condition that literally CANNOT cause the pain, and simply wanted to drug me up with medications with dreadful side effects rather than getting to the actual root of the problem. A medical degree does not mean that the individual holding it is smart, intuitive, or capable. It just means, in this case, that the individual could memorize information and pass tests. I’m off to Mayo for real help.

Did not know what encephalomalacia was. Called it hardening of brain from
Scar tissue when it is softening of brain due to hemorrhage and the worst brain damage any person could have at any age. I am now suffering terribly because of his mistake.

Worse doctor I’ve ever met. Went for head injury and was told first that it was epilepsy and then it was anxiety and needed to see a psychiatrist. Completely dismissed anything I told him and made his diagnosis before he even listened to me.

The only good thing Dr. Ayala did for me was to help me to stop being lazy and drive the three hours to Jacksonville to receive quality care for my child. I spent two visits listening to him trying to convince me that he knows everything about my child without talking to him, testing him nor actually listening to me without interruption. His bogus diagnosis, had I listened, would have ruined a potentially great mind for life with the wrong medication for psychiatric care instead of the physical brain injuries he was enduring. I will not recommend this doctor to anyone with a child that they love.

Our son started having seizures shortly after we moved to Tallahassee. We started seeing Dr. Ayala immediately. It seemed like each time we saw him he was ordering an EEG and adding a new anti-seizured medication for my son.
Since we switched to a neurologist in Gainesville, my son has been seizure free for a year.

His failure to listen, assumption that he knows best because he's a specialist, I do not recommend him to anyone! I went to him in search of answers and help for a back injury and increasing neurological symptoms. He tells me all the pain I'm in is because of my depression. He took me off several medications, putting me on Cymbalta which has a known reaction in patients with bipolar. It triggered a manic spiral and he still insisted I was "too young" to be in pain like I thought I was!
