Dr. Bok Y. Choi is the finest doctor I have used at Riverside Medical Clinic. He has done surgery on my shoulder, fixed a broken hand, and will be doing surgery to reattach the tendon in my right ring finger. At each step of the discussion, Dr. Choi has been clear about options and procedures. He is incredibly funny. He has also seen my daughters for various problems from pinched nerves in a shoulder, elbow pain from pitching and throwing, ankle sprains, knee sprains. My wife saw him for a frozen shoulder. All of us find him to be excellent. I realize that his sense of humor may throw some people off -- being told if you don't do the physical therapy then we will have to break your shoulder to fix it. We found that funny and charming. I recommend him to all of my friends.

He did not listen to what I had to say. He was an arrogant, condescending know-it-all and had a very poor bedside manner. I would not recommend him to ANYBODY. Does not know how to interact with patients at all.

I saw Dr. Choi for a painful cyst on my right hand. This man has no social skills and is extremely hard to understand because of his thick accent. He told me "I will drain it" I didn't understand what he said and asked "what?" He told me to sit down and he took my hand and without warning or any kind of numbing solution he jabbed a long thick needle into it and started pulling it in and out stabbing the entire area of an already very sensitive and painful cyst. It was the most painful thing I had ever experienced!!! I was screaming and tearing up and just when I thought he was finally done he puts in another needle without any explanation and then tells me it's a steroid. Finally when he was done he looks me close in the face and says "aww you gonna pass out?" It has been two days since this horiffic experience and my hand is still in sooo much pain!!! I hate this man! STAY AWAY!!!!

I went to see Dr. Choi about pain behind my knee. He said it was arthritis and to follow up a few weeks later. I went for follow up still in pain and asked for MRI. He said lay people don't know what an MRI is and if he ordered one it would say arthritis. I told him he wasn't listening to me. I tried again to describe my symptoms and why I wanted an MRI. He ignored me and I walked out. Later that day I got a call to schedule an MRI. The results show a cyst and a torn meniscus. I am NOT seeing Dr. Choi for follow up.

Waited an hour past my appt time to see this rude, insensitive idiot. He walked in, said I had arthritis and needed a hip replacement. Wrong! I had a quad muscle injury, needed pt ( which I got later). He walked out of the exam room, within three minutes of coming in. Really?!! Avoid this man!!!! He doesn't listen and doesn't care at all!

Dr Choi literally ruined my life. He failed to advise me of risks of RSD and admitted this in open court. I would have never undergone hand surgery if I'd known of this risk. I now have a lifelong disability and limited use of my hand and arm. I had far better use prior to Dr Choi operating on me. He is very pompus and rude. I actually lost a lawsuit against him. This cost me thousands and thousands of dollars. Simply, he has better attorneys who are paid by his insurance company so he will fight you in long (6 years in my case) drawn out court battles and the cost is on you not him. We had a jury that admitted afterward, no one in the jury would ever use Dr Choi, but they found in his favor anyway! We are looking at an appeal as we speak. This Dr needs to stay away from the operating room. Use him at your own risk! Even the jury wont use him; why would you?!

Dr. Choi saw my daughter for a hip injury. Choi was an excellent diagnostician finding the root cause of the problem. He related extremely well to her and engaged her telling her that she should someday become a doctor. It was a wonderful experience for my daughter.

Bok Choi is the rudest human being I have ever encountered!!!! I would not recommend him to my worst enemy. He talks over you, ignores yoo ans starts dictating while you are still asking him questions. He has not one ounce of campasion for patients what so ever. I recall a patient horror story about this barbaric so called doctor. The woman was getting her cast off and the tech that was taking it off was taking a long time to do it. Bok Choi got so irritated that he took a scalpal and sliced off the cast in a temper tantrum and sliced clean through the womans leg!!!!!!!!!!!! She had a huge gash from below her knee to a little more that halfway down her shin. She showed me a picture of it. She sued the clinic. I can't believe he still works there after that!!!!! Someone that works there says his son Gene is taking his place soon. The other son already works there (David Choi-eye doc) and he too is a pompeous jerk. If you need an ortho doc stay far away from Bok. See Dr. Thomas!
