I saw Dr. Toenjes while in the hospital. Right off the bat he was completely obnoxious, asking questions then talking over me, and my husband as we tried answering him. As I tried explaining my symptoms in layman’s terms his bolstering tone and his almost laughable response at how much I didn’t know about my own health was both intimidating and rude. At the time I still thought I might have to follow up with him, in order to get to the bottom of my migraine issues, however after reading similar reviews I no longer feel comfortable seeing him again. Jacksonville is a big city with plenty of other options. Seeing a neurologist that produces anxiety and stress by his own demeanor just seems counterproductive to me.

This dr is the rudest I’ve ever seen. I was in the hospital after passing out at the Honda Dealership. I have been diagnosed with traumatic brain injury. I have been having these spells of syncope for a while but this was the first time I actually passed out. After tests and scans he came into my room started talking and his cell phone rang. He left the room to talk out in the hallway. In a little while he yelled from the hall that I had had a migraine headache. That was ludicrous!!! I had two of them years before and this was nothing like the migraine. Totally rude screaming at me from the hall. Very uncaring or concerned about what had caused or is causing the syncope.
At my last office visit, I saw his wife, Amy. She said it was time to do another brain scan for the dysplasia I have in the brain carotid. However she said she doesn’t know how to put this in the computer to order it. She would find out and do it. Well, my follow up appt. came and she had never ordered a scan so I cancelled the appt. had my primary dr put in a referral for a neurologist at Baptist downtown. Totally different atmosphere. Very professional office and caring dr.

Do not use Dr. Toenjes or his wife. Very unprofessional behavior and not caring about a patient at all!

Dr. Toenjes was very attentive and I credit him with literally saving my life. It was assumed that I was having a stroke, but Dr. T knew better and immediately began treatment for Guillan Barre. His diagnosis was correct and prevented the disease from progressing too far for rehabilitation. I cannot thank Dr. T enough for taking the time to listen to me and pay attention to my symptoms. I would highly recommend Dr. Toenjes. THIS MAN SAVED MY LIFE!

Staff seemed inconvenienced .Dr Tornjes was smug & cynical. He actually smiled about my recent symptoms. I’m sure he has a busy schedule and I’m just one patient so this probably won’t matter to him. But if you are looking for a good neurologist who doesn’t have a “know it all attitude” and explains things in plain English I recommend you keep looking. PA Amy Toenjes seemed focused on patient assessment & care. But her husband (or brother) I’m not sure was very nice and seemed sincerely concerned .

This doctor is a pompous human being. If he was half the doctor he thinks he is he would be great. Never bother to see this guy. He's the worst!!!!

Very rude and arrogant physician ... sought his council for my husband who was showing cognitive decline and had a tremor in his left hand ... Primary care said the tremor was benign ...I wanted to know if we were dealing with the early stages of Dementia, was it depression ... adult ADD ... Parkinson's ??? ... he told us the tremor was benign and the cognitive issues may or may not be the beginning of Altzheimers and even if it is there is nothing he could do about it ... prescribe a pill that might brighten him for a bit but really no point ... 5 years later different neurologist ... diagnosis ... Parkinson's with Mild Cognitive Impairment ... at least we know what we are dealing with ... this guy is a terrible dr.

Althouth I think the doctor is very smart he is very arrogant and does not talk on a level patients would understand. He knows test results but just glossed over what he decides to tell you.
