Yes, this doctor is accepting new patients

    Biography

Dr. Akers chose to become a family medicine doctor because she enjoys getting to see all ages of people and to care for whole families, even generations in families. In addition, she says that family medicine is never boring. There are always new challenges and opportunities to help people thrive to be happy and healthy. She says her parents were the biggest influence in her life: My parents both did some counseling as parts of their jobs and I think some of that caring and understanding of people was passed to me. They were missionaries in Malaysia when I was born. My dad was a minister and my mother was a counselor and administrator in adult/ alternative education.Dr. Akers has a special interest in mental health care, along with a whole person (body, mind and spirit) approach to healthcare. In her free time, she enjoys photography, gardening and hanging out with family and friends. She also volunteers in church activities and with her children’s schools and sports teams.I approach each patient I care for as the unique individual that they are. I enjoy getting to know and understand people. This helps me to find what works best for exactly who they are.
