I do not like the side effects of any IV sedation, so my surgeon told me that no sedative should be needed and a regional nerve block should suffice. However, the day of my surgery DR. ALADJ told me that my request was not “acceptable”, he would sedate me and I would be asleep. DR. ALADJ gave me this ultimatum “You do it my way or we cancel surgery”. Now I am aware that many people believe I am foolish not to abide by a doctor’s recommendation but I know what my body prefers and my request was reasonable.
