Dr Vanoosten saved both me and my baby's life. He is extremely knowledgeable. This was my 1st pregnancy, and he was very helpful and informative along the way. I was diagnosed with placenta previa, which caused LOTS of bleeding and ER visits, but he was always there to check in. He would also follow up with me, personally, the following day after being discharged, to make sure I was ok. He does believe in waiting for the baby to be ready, yes, but he also knew when to call it and say that we needed to do an emergency c-section to get the baby out. I have had 3 more babies since, with 3 different OB's, and my husband and I both still to this day prefer Dr. Vanoosten. Had he not been so attentive to me and my baby, and I had tried to just ride out the bleeding, we could have lost our baby, or myself. We are very thankful for him! Now our tiny 5lb 13oz baby boy is a 6ft 1in, 14yr old. 🥰

Do not use him! He treated my pregnant wife very inappropriately. Van Oosten refuses to address legitimate concerns (such as not scheduling an RH test) and if you ask about them, he will stomp out of the room like a young child throwing a tantrum. We asked several developmental questions (we didn't know the answers) to which he told us he couldn't be bothered and mentioned that we should just look things up on the internet instead of expecting him to provide us guidance. When we did, we had a lot of concerns regarding what the internet and many books had stated, and he implied my wife stupid for doing research that he had directed us to do. Incredibly unprofessional, I'm not sure how he still has patients. He's the type of doctor who does it for the title; rather than being passionate about patients, he only seems to be passionate about his ego and paycheck. To anyone looking for an OBGYN, remember, your future daughter or son is a precious individual. Do not trust that precious individual to an arrogant man who will have no concern for your baby.

If you have read many of the reviews about him, you may have the same suspicions I do. I feel a lot of the positive reviews are fabricated. I promise that within 10 minutes of really talking with him, you will get this strange, mistrustful feeling towards him. Listen to that feeling! It's not worth jeopardizing your loved ones.

Dr. Van Oosten listened, he really listened! He explained the options and what I can do for my condition. I am so impressed with both is office staff and the Dr. What a breath of fresh air.

I read some of these comments and it blows my mind the things that were said about Dr. Van Oosten. He is extremely knowledgeable, approachable and was reffered by several people. Frankly, this is the only OBGYN that was ever spoken of when it comes to delivering babies in Sierra Vista. The staff at the hospital said he even delivered their babies (RN's and receptionist). He is very kind and so is his staff is just amazing. I had a c section too and I wouldn't have chosen another doctor. He is awesome and very military friendly being prior service.

I saw Dr vanoosten with my first child. He was due august 2012. The staff at his office are very friendly and I never had to wait very long I was always in and out in a timely manner. The doctor was polite n kind and answered all questions. However he is old fashioned and believes in waiting until the baby is ready, which is great. The only concern my husband had was with him in the delivery room he seemed very rude and had an attitude. He did perform my csection and everything went fine. After ready the comments on this page I'm terrified to see any doctor in sierra vista.

Dr. VanOosten has been the best obgyn for my pregnancy! My husband and I are both military and Doc was recommended to us by 7 different active duty women who picked him to devliery their babies. I was transferred to FT.HUACHUCA at 7 months pregnant, called his office and his staff made sure I was seen the next day. When I walked in Ms. Nina and Ms. Debby gave me the warmest welcome and got me started with my visit. My husband in Afghanistan, wanted to be on the phone to hear our baby girl's heartbeat, doc and his staff was more than happy to allow us. It ment the world to my husband and I! I would come in tired from work and they would say dont forget to call your husband. I would smile and they would wait for him to get connected and then do the appointment. When he delivered our daughter the nurses from his office came to visit. Not being from AZ, they really treated us like family and I cant thank him or his staff enough. Def going to have our 2nd with him.

Nice doctor and staff HOWEVER does not provide info. Being this is my first time pregnancy I would like to know what he is doing. Samples were taken and he never told me that I was high risk due to my age and Rh factor... I had to find out from the new provider. Again really nice but very bad at providing info on what he is doing and why. The staff also cancelled an appointment and never called to tell me.

He the worst doctor possible. No regard for health of the baby or mom. Doesnt get back to you and when he does see you hes very rushed and rude. Lied about supposed run tests. And lied to insurance company about visits that never happened.
