I found Doctor Scott Beckstead, Family Medicine located at IHC 390 N Main Street Bountiful UT, listed as a preferred provider for my insurance plan Select Health Advantage. I have been using IHC clinics since 1995 and usually use the IHC South Ogden Clinic where I have never had any issues. I am an establish patient with IHC since 1995 and use their website often. I wanted to go to the Bountiful office this time because I now live right around the corner from there. I called to see about making and appointment, the receptionist Stacy who took my call confirmed to me that they were taking new patients, but that they must be under the age of 30 years old and have no chronic medical conditions. I found this to be very discriminating based on my age because I just turned 50. I could understand if they were not taking any new patients at this time, but that was not the case. Stacey outright told me that they are excepting new patients only if the patient was 30 years of age or younger. I called my insurance company who called Stacy to see if what she said was true in which Stacy did not deny. Stacey confirmed to my insurance company that they will not take any new patients over the age of 30 years of age, and if they were 30 years old or younger they could have no chronic medical conditions. A complaint was with my insurance company Select Health Advantage who is completely connected to the IHC clinics and will strictly be an HMO plan next year starting 2016 with IHC clinics being their main source of doctors for Family Medicine. This discrimination based on my age, been an IHC patient for over 20 years

I really liked Dr. Beckstead at first. He did seem to be very caring, but in the last year or two, it is obvious he isn't paying any attention to what is going on with me. He kept asking me the same question every time I saw him. I don't know why he didn't write down the answer in my chart and check before he came in. It was frustrating to always remind him. I'm sure he was a bit frustrated that he hadn't found a solution to one of my medical issues (no one has), but he ridiculed me for trying holistic approaches. I thought DO's were supposed to be more open minded about holistic medicine. Well, he most definitely isn't. He is fine if you have typical problems, but not if you don't.

Dr Beckstead is wonderful and I will even go so far as to say I believe we were led to this area so he could be my daughters physician. He diagnosed her Celiac Disease within 2 weeks of stomach symptoms with a blood panel and a referral to have an esophageal endoscopic confirmation. The more people with Celiac I meet, the ore grateful I am for this man! People go years and years with misdsignosis. My husband and I and our 4 Children will go to him as long as he's here! The reason I gave his staff a 4 is the number of times we have either waited and been ignored ( I don't mind waiting, but let me know you didn't forget me and for heavens sake dirty looks are unwarranted in a Drs office waiting room) or had the person at the computer just be rude. Once we see he and his nurse, it's great.

Dr. Beckstead is by far THE best doctor I have ever seen. He helped me through a very difficult time. I was so sad when I left Utah - If I were able, I'd still make trips back so that I could be under his care. This is one person who went into the medical field for the right reasons. If he doesn't know the answer, he'll tell you he doesn't and he will look until he finds it. He literally saved my life. He cares about his patients and is willing to see you immediately if you're having a problem. I'd recommend Dr. Beckstead to any nice person, because I believe that a kind doctor deserves kind patients.

I went to Dr. Beckstead when he was still in Provo as a resident doctor at Utah Valley Family Practice. He was my doctor with two of my pregnancies. He was so good through my whole pregnancy and especially during labor and delivery that I named my son after him. His name is Kael Scott. I was so sad when he left to move up to Bountiful. It I didn't live in Payson I would continue going to him forever. He is the best doctor. He really cares unlike some others I have been to that just treat you like a number instead of a person. If you live in the Bountiful area and need a good doctor he would be the one.
