I am overdue in writing this review. A couple years ago, Dr. Hyams removed a melanoma on my back. He was great, very caring and concerned. He monitored the surgery for close to a year. I really appreciated the level of follow up and it certainly had an added benefit. An ENT had been monitoring nodules on my thyroid for several years. The nodules changed and thyroidectomy surgery was required. Dr. Hyams did that surgery, as well. He was wonderful. The surgery was a complete success and remarkably, there is no scar! It healed beautifully. I have seen others who have been left with HUGE scars. Dr. Hyams is a highly skilled surgeon who really cares about his patients. As good as he is, I don't want to see him again but, if I need a surgeon, I will be going to Dr. Hyams.

My 79 year old mom went in for elective routine surgery to remove a fatty cyst on the back of her neck. This doctor did not give her antibiotics. He did not put Betadine or antibiotic cream on the wound afterwards. So, my mom got an infection - the MRSA virus superbug. She had to undergo over TWO MONTHS of DAILY intravenous antibiotic treatment, sitting in a chair, getting antibiotics through her veins at the infusion center. While there, she met another lady who was also ill-treated, who swore she would never go back to this doctor- terrible. As far as these two ladies are concerned, he is a negligent butcher. To add insult to injury, then she was billed $19,000! I would not recommend this doctor, based on what my mom went through - hers was not a difficult procedure, and it appears this doctor skipped some basic steps for patient safety. BEWARE!

Dr Hyams is a veery caring and knowledgable doctor. He gave me a very complete exam and spent a tremendous amount of time answering all of my many questions. I feel so blessed that my primary care doctor sent me to Dr. Hyams. His surgical skills are outstanding.

Very poor bedside manner. Won't listen to you as a patient and leaves town and cannot be reached after a surgery has been performed. STAY AWAY!
