Run, don't walk, away from this guy. He treated my mother for about four months for digestive and bloating issues. He told her he thought it was a gluten allergy. In December of 2013, he told her that if she wasn't feeling better by April of 2014, he'd send her for a scan. At my father's urging, she demanded a scan ASAP. It turned out that she had an ovarian mass that was diagnosed as Stage III ovarian cancer. After reading up on ovarian cancer and how it's symptoms often replicate those of various digestive problems, I could not believe that a competent gastro doctor wouldn't have ordered a scan right away in order to rule out the most dangerous possibility based on the symptoms presented. My mother underwent a surgery and hung on for four months before passing away at the end of April, the very month Doctor Villanueva had recommended she wait until before getting a scan. My mother had an aggressive cancer, and the outcome very well may not have been different had it been diagnosed in August or September rather than December. However, Dr. Villanueva's failure to order a scan right away robbed my mother of any real chance. Additionally, if my parents had followed his recommendation, she'd have died well before he ever ordered the scan. Based on his performance here, and given the stakes involved, he should really find another line of work. In most other professions, he'd be forced to do exactly that.
