Dear Mr. Silverstone,
I wish to inform you of my complaint with your Store Manager, Patrice Datus, who represents your professional practice.
I met with Dr. Elena Monks on January 9, 2024, for my annual eye exam, at which time she wrote up a Contact Lens script for Dailies Total One Multifocal. Dr. Monks stated that if I did not adjust to the multifocal that I should contact her to obtain a new script for the Dailies Total 1 (my old script). I was sent home with a sleeve of samples and I stopped using the Multifocal lens shortly after, as I could not adjust to them. I continued to use my old Dailies Total 1, supplies until I was two weeks out from depletion. I placed a call into your office on March 6th asking that Dr. Monks provide a new script for the Dailies Total 1, and was told that my message would be conveyed to her. I followed up on March 8th and was then told that my new script would be available for pickup on Tuesday, March 12th (6-days after my initial call). When I arrived to pickup the new script, it was not for the Dailies Total 1, that I asked for, and that Dr. Monks was away from the office and would be returning in 20-minutes. When I did return, Dr. Monks was with a patient, and Mr. Datus, said that I should speak directly with Dr. Monks concerning my specific request for the Dailies Total 1, and that I should return again in 20-minutes. Well, I could not wait another 20 minutes and asked Patrice to let Dr. Monks know that I wished to revert to the Dailies Total 1, script and if it could be emailed to me and if I could get a 5-day sample sleeve of the Dailies Total 1, script to hold me over until my order was received, which would take a week to get processed, and I had already lost 6-days in placing my order. Mr. Datus refused to provide me with a 5-day sample of the Dailies Total 1, stating that samples are only for patients with appointments.
I was dumbfounded to realize that your office is more concerned about contact lens samples than your patient’s eye care. Not having samples to hold me over until my order was received, would mean that I would need to reuse my daily contacts until I received my contact order. For this reasons, you have lost me as a patient. I intend to secure an Optometrist who cares more for their patient’s eye care than their sample inventory of contact lens.
Here are my suggestions to avoid such issues is the future:
-Dr. Monks could have written up scripts for both the Dailies Total One Multifocal and Dailies Total 1.
-Dr. Monks could have telephoned me to receive a clear understanding of my needs.
-Mr. Datus could have taken the matter into consideration and made an exception with distributing a sleeve of samples. (How petty was his adamant attitude of refusal as if I was asking for a costly item.)
Cordially,
Leslie Garcia-Furey
