She spent most of the 15 min time asking me to describe my symptoms (which are numerous), then she said that based on 3 lab tests ordered by the doctor who referred me that there was no reason to see her again. She didn't ask about any symptoms I might have forgotten. She didn't examine my body at all. When I asked about checking the various endocrine organs functions, she said there isn't a reason to test for something that doesn't have a pill to fix it on the market. She didn't appear to be well educated in the scientific method and appeared uncomfortable with any uncertainty. She talked down to me the whole time, even though I'm educated in biochemistry. She hastily left after I expressed my dissatisfaction with her rushed dismissive conclusion. After she left the room, she told the nurse that I was unhappy with not getting an answer, but I wasn't looking for an answer to my debilitating symptoms, I was looking to be treated like a human being, worthy of respect and had hoped I might gain some insight into what could be happening in my body. Dr Swarts offered neither. In contrast, the nursing staff and receptionists were courteous and kind.

Dismissive, uninterested and in a big hurry. After leaving I wondered why I had even bothered to go. Will not be returning.

Doctor let my son go without his medication - refusing to fill his prescription until he did lab work which costs around $600. Most doctors will at least keep up your meds until the labs come in and then change them if necessary. She would rather let my son suffer. I'm a very unhappy Mom right now!!!!!!!!!!

I can't say enough about Dr. Swarts. She is an amazing asset that Corvallis is lucky to have.

No nonsense or wasted time, all business. Fully understands body chemistry. Answered all questions fully and offered lots of chances to ask more questions. None needed, she'd covered them all. Explained clearly, made sensible recommendations. Glad to have found her.

I am Male-to-Female Transgender. Dr. Swarts was very sympathetic to my situation, feeling trapped in the wrong body as long as I can remember. She prescribed me the Hormones that will help me become the woman I should always have been!

Not helpful, disagreeable, and wanted to send me to a general surgeon with only 7 years experience (and one very negative rating) for thyroid surgery. Refused to refer me to an ENT surgeon when asked. Would only refer me to other general surgeons that are many, many miles from my home, after I told her that was not a possibility. Luckily, my insurance lets me choose my own surgeon. All of this after keeping me on a very high dose of Methimazole (40mg) as my ALT (liver) enzymes rose rapidly each week, telling me that it was "fine" and keeping me on 40, then 30mg, after T3 and T4 had returned to well within normal range. She did not tell me of the dangers of Methimazole or the long length of time I would have to be on this toxic medication. While I understand this is currently the only recourse for Grave's hyperthyroid, it would have been nice to have some reassurance instead of her "biting" at me when asked questions. She also didn't explain my illness, I had to look it all up online.
