I can not speak highly enough of Dr. Provencher and his team! My knee surgery wasn't black and white, as I had an osteochondroma with MCL and hamstring damage, so it was only Dr. Provencher and his team I trusted to go in to see what needed to be done. He was recommended to me from multiple individuals in the Vail Valley who worked at the surgery center, so I had high hopes from the start. His resume is mind blowing, but his humble heart and compassion is what radiates the minute he steps in the door!

Dr. Provencher and his team are professional, brilliant, compassionate, and from day one, I knew their goal was to help me get back to 100%, chasing mountain records again. They were always available when I called with questions, and they never made me feel rushed at my doctor appointments.

Prior to my decision to have surgery, when I had questions, I always was able to speak to Dr. Provencher, even over the phone, or if I wanted to make an appointment because I had some anxiety, he was there.

Following surgery, he stopped by my recovery room, (not many docs do that) and followed up with me with a video of exactly how the surgery went and what he did. The weeks following my surgery, I always had him and his team by my side for questions and the healing process. My questions were always answered with a quick phone call, if there was ever any confusion I had.

I will never recommend anyone else for knee surgery, this team is one in a million. They changed my life, they can change yours. I am ever grateful! Thanks Dr. Provencher and team!

After unsuccessful PT rehab of a sprained SC joint, I searched for other solutions hoping to improve my condition and extend activities into future years. As an competitive XC skier, cyclist and tennis player, leaving the SC joint in its condition at the time would not allow 100% effort. I sought out other treatment plans and discovered this rare injury has successfully been treated by a small group of surgical specialists that developed a procedure to stabilize and strengthen the joint, One of those surgeons was Dr. Provencher in the Steadman Clinic in Vail, CO. After sending his staff radiology and scan info, we discussed my condition in a video conference and agreed the condition would only worsen with time. I then agreed to go ahead with the procedure, arranged for a time and made plans to travel to Vail. His staff assisted with housing, arranged for all paperwork and insurance checks, and was very pleasant to work with. Dr. Provencher performed the procedure and I returned home to rehab. His staff provided recommendations for local PT assistance, along with Howard Head's assistance and direction. PT began after 6 weeks of immobilization along with several video checks with Dr. Provencher along the way. It's been 5 mos. since surgery, and I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. I traveled to Vail recently for a final visit/follow-up with Dr. Provencher and got the go-ahead to resume "normal" activities, including those mentioned above. In my opinion, Dr. Provencher was extraordinarily knowledgeable regarding SC joint injuries, performed the procedure he co-developed and did a remarkable job. I can't say enough good/positive things about how the process went, including his staff, assistants, PA's and the facility in Vail. Thank you, Dr. Provencher, for providing the opportunity for me to continue with the competitive activities I'm most interested in.

I was referred to the Steadman clinic for consultation and a physical therapy regiment for a ruptured quadricep tendon. After an X-ray Dr. Provencher comes in explains that “we are going to do an MRI” and that I have an issue stemming from birth, or a very young age, and that it can be fixed with surgery.. I was set back and out of sorts and thought it was a joke. It was not. That was it for Dr. Provencher. He explained that if I changed my mind and wanted surgery to contact the clinic and left the room. There was no consultation on my healing or physical therapy recommendation or referral. I was left alone and was so shocked I had no words. Great sadness and frustration filled me and I left the hospital without checking out.

I am more than disappointed with this visit. I came for consultation on how to heal a common injury. Instead no options were given as I was directed to have surgery. When I baulked at the orders received I was dismissed as if it this was a sales transaction. The service I sought was not provided in the least. If anything the mental anxiety that I required surgery slowed my healing. I second guessed that physical therapy was not going to heal me and that maybe I did require surgery. Physical therapy did heal me and I am back to my active lifestyle without the only surgical option that was given from the Steadman clinic.

I am thankful Dr. Provencher was blunt and transparent that he was only interested in proceeding on surgery and not my wellbeing otherwise I may have been convinced to proceed on an unnecessary procedure. I have had a previous surgery at the Steadman Clinic and it was an overall good experience. Looking back after this recent experience I wonder if I really required surgery or did I simply decide out of blind trust. Are the white coats and stethoscopes concealing sales people for surgery? PS I healed fine without surgery. It has been over a year and no issues.

Dr Provencher is an extremely skilled and caring Orthopedic Surgeon. I feel so very fortunate that Dr Hackett at The Steadman Clinic asked Dr Provencher to join my team. That’s how they do things there. The Doctors work together to do what’s best for the Patient.
After my ski accident a year prior and 1 botched surgery before I came to The Steadman Clinic, I was 4 shoulder surgeries in, the last one had just failed, my arm was coming back from full paralysis and I had a bacteria. As he said, it’s complicated… The fact is, “Complicated” is what he enjoys most and does best!
After 18 months, 7 surgeries, 1 reverse total shoulder and too many PT sessions to count, I have my shoulder and arm back! Thanks to him I am back on my horse and back on my skis! In short, he gave me my life back.
If you find yourself in need of an Orthopedic Surgeon, you cannot do better that Dr Provencher. He is simply the best.

Simply the best shoulder physician around. I saw Dr. Provencher for a second opinion re my shoulder since it was not clear to me if I need a surgery or nonoperative care would be good enough. He spent over half an hour talking to me. He explained the pros and cons of each treatment and tried to understand what I need the most. At the end I was able to make my own decision and decided to proceed with the nonoperative care. Big respect for this guy!
