DR KELLY HOLTKAMP WAS BY FAR THE RUDEST, MEANEST, MOST UNPROFESSIONAL DOCTOR I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED IN MY LIFE. I TRIED TO ASK QUESTIONS SHE SPOKE OVER ME. I TRIED TO EXPLAIN MY PAIN SHE DISMISSED ME. HORRIFIC.

Dr Holtkamp and the staff at Ortho Illinois are the best. She explained the procedure that would be done to repair my broken finger in easy to understand terms. She even drew me a picture showing the knuckle and what she would do during the surgery. the follow up care was excellent as well. I would certainly recommend Dr Holtkamp to anyone.

Dr. Holtkamp performed 2 surgeries on my wrist. I had a bone that was broke into at least 20 pieces. I was being pressured to use doctors closer to Chicago because they are "supposedly" better in their field. I am able to resume all my daily activities. Dr. Holtkamp is a skilled professional and I am very pleased with the results.

Dr. Holtkamp performed what I thought to be the impossible when she fix my shattered and crushed radius bone in one surgery. Prior to seeing Dr. Holtkamp on the recommendation of my Internist I was told by another orthopedic doctor it would take several surgeries and a very lengthy healing process as he scratched his head while viewing my X-rays. Dr. Holtkamp viewed my X-rays and was able to tell me right away how she was planning to treat me speaking as if she's done it a million times. I felt very confident in her ability and I was right.
I cannot say enough about the high level of care I received from Dr. Holtkamp and her staff including the very knowledgable Occupational Therapists that work closely with Dr. Holtkamp. They are all a great team of professionals and I feel so very fortunate and grateful to have been treated by the best of the best.
Thank you so much to this team!
Dr. Holtkamp, I will recommend you every chance I get.
Sincerely, Deborah Wasmer

Dr Holtkamp did an outstanding job removing a fatty tumor from my hand. She was very thorough and easy to talk to explaining what needed to be done. I would recommend her to anyone needing the services of a hand specialist.

I had a trigger finger repaired in November last year. After years of cortisone and the problem kept returning I wondered why I hadn't done surgery sooner. The surgery was pretty easy with just a couple days down before I was off Norco and just on advil or Tylenol. When my other hand started having problems (another trigger finger and a tendon in my wrist), I did not hesitate to call Dr Holtkamp and schedule the surgery. She is very knowledgable, explains the procedure, and what to expect afterward. Her staff is very friendly and helpful with the insurance end of it. If you have trigger finger or tendon problems, skip the cortisone, the surgery is not that bad and then it's done!

Biography

During her youth growing up in Crystal Lake, Dr. Holtkamp was deeply interested in health and helping people feel better after they had hurt themselves. It was natural for her to pursue these interests through further education in healthcare after graduation from Crystal Lake South High School. She attended Northern Illinois University, where she completed her degree in physical therapy with honors. Early in her career as a staff physical therapist at St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago, Dr. Holtkamp provided out-patient therapy to orthopedic patients where she developed an interest in the orthopedic specialty. After assessing her long-term career goals, Dr. Holtkamp elected to pursue a medical degree and completed her training and residency at Northwestern University Medical School. While in residency, she participated in the care of athletes from the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, Chicago Blackhawks, Northwestern University, and the Joffrey Ballet. Drawing on her interests in the variety of conditions and injuries involving the hand, Dr. Holtkamp pursued advanced hand surgery fellowship training at the prestigious Mayo Clinic. During this fellowship, she fulfilled coursework at the Mayo Microvascular Training Center and trained with world-renowned shoulder, elbow, and hand surgeons with decades of experience. Now as a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with a sub-specialty in upper extremity, Dr. Holtkamp credits her early physical therapy background for enhancing her ability to guide patients through the healing process to reach their goal of complete recovery. “I am committed to providing the highest quality of care to maximize recovery and minimize interruptions to people’s lives. My treatment philosophy is to recommend medically-proven conservative treatment before considering surgery. When non-operative care is no longer an option, I perform minimally invasive surgery whenever possible and use state-of-the-art techniques that expedite the healing process.”
