Hadn't met me yet and already profiled me as a drug seeker. She had her staff call me to warn that she will not prescribe pain medications no matter what. When I did meet her, I felt like she aleady didn't care to have me as a patient because I have multiple chronic conditions and pain.

I have been a patient of Dr OHeelans for many years and have moved my entire family to her care. I am a difficult patient and have no problems challenging doctors or diagnosis. I trust Dr O'Heelan with my life as she has picked up on ailments and symptoms I was unable to spot that could have killed me. Her office staff are wonderful and very helpful. I must admit I dismissed at least a dozen other PCPs after doubting their abilities. She is also very respectful to the fact that I prefer alternative medicine to pills. I am quite happy with Dr OHeelan.

Incompetent and lacks confidence and knowledge. Ego too important to her to admit when she's wrong! Misdiagnosed & treated me for asthma for 10 years, while all along I did not have asthma but rather severe GERD, which has developed into Barrett's Esophagus (a pre-cancerous condition) because it went untreated for so long! Thank God today for my GI Doctor. Will never go back to O'Heelan again - this is only one of many serious things that went wrong while under her care. Very happy today with my new PCP Dr. Thomas Genese :)

My wife and I were patients of Dr. O'Heelan for 10 years before she joined Coastal. Since then we decided that she was no longer providing quality care for us and we moved on to a different Dr. Since she joined Coastal, she seems distracted 98 % of the time and was constantly mixing up my records with my wifes. My wife had an accident in 2012 when she fell down an escalator and broke her ribs, fractured her ankle, torn rotator cuff and herniated a cervical disk in her neck. Dr O Heelan was well aware of her injuries and referred her to an ortho Dr. and a Neurosurgeon. Dr O'heelan was so overwhelmed by her patient load that she completely lost track or her patients and who she had referred them to. Dr. O'Heelan also accused my wife of drug shopping for painkillers when she was constantly getting progress reports from the the Orthopedic office and the Neurosurgeons office. My wife was being prescribed pain meds from multiple members of
the Neuro team, making it appear that she was seeing multiple random doctors for pain drugs. Dr. O'Heelan also prescribed Xanax XR, 7 yrs earlier to my wife for anxiety and refused to refill her script because she thought that there would be serious interactions with the Xanex and the pain meds she was getting from the other doctors, leaving her to go through serious withdrawals where she had to be hospitalized to counteract the withdrawals. Dr O'Heelan had no idea that there was a weaning-off process for stopping the use of Xanax. Dr O'Heelan has proved on multiple occasions that she no longer providing safe care to her patients. We almost reported her to the Medical Board for the Xanax mess.

I was experiencing some armpit and breast pain. I went to the after hours clinic through Coastal and was diagnosed with infected lymph nodes. An exam was not performed. I was put on an antibiotic but the pain did not subside. I again tried to make an appointment with my primary but she was out so I had to see Dr. O'Heelan. As soon as she came into the examination room she said that because I was experiencing this type of pain, that I needed a breast exam. The first doctor assured me that I didn't have breast cancer or lymphoma (assured me without any type of physical exam) but Dr. O'Heelan said she had to give me a breast exam. She examined me and said very confidently that my problem was not infected lymph nodes but that I had a lump in my breast. I was very confused as I had not felt a lump and didn't know how the diagnosis could change so quickly. She told me I had fibroid cystic breast disorder and that it would be hard for me to find my lumps.

She told me to schedule an ultrasound, to go see a breast specialist, and to "try and enjoy" my "thanksgiving" and that I shouldn't be so worried because breast cancer doesn't hurt (not always true. several coastal doctors have told me this and it is completely false).

I got an ultrasound which confirmed I did not have a lump OR fibroid cystic breast disease (also confirmed by my obgyn) and when Dr. O'Heelan was asked about it she said she wasn't "sure" if she felt a lump in my breast.

I wouldn't recommend Dr. O'Heelan to anyone. Why she didn't refer me to my OBGYN when she thought I had an issue with my breast, is beyond me. Also the "lump" she felt was probably my rib cage.

Dr. O'Heelan used to be one of the best Osteopaths. I fear this new practice has seriously changed her and not for the better. In her old office when it was just her she took time to get to know each pt. She treated the pt as a whole. My last appointment started 30 minutes late, it was hurried, she barely listened to me, jumped to conclusions about my diagnoses (both wrong, which I told her) and had me waste time and money on tests and appointments I ended up truly not needing because she was convinced of her 5 minute assessment. I changed insurance just to keep her because she never was like that and now I'm again searching for a DO that won't treat their patients like cattle.

Dr. O'Heelan is extremely thorough. She analyzes all body systems and is able to create a workable plan to better health. She is extremely thorough and truly cares about her patients. My previous doctor refused to address my problems for years. Dr. O'Heelan confirmed many of my symptoms and I'm on my way to better health. She is realistic in her treatment, involving the patient in each decision. She also follows up on all test results and will contact her patients by phone to discuss results without having the patient call the office first. She actually contacted me at 7:30 at night to discuss my lab results because she knew I worked until 6:00 pm. That's what I call dedication.
