I have been going to Dr. Rood for 25 years. I trust him implicitly. He is one of the most knowledgeable docs out there. I am one of those people who likes to understand the biology of my medical condtions and the chemistry of the medications that I take. When I ask, he takes the time to spell out the details and to explain my options and how he arrived at his recommendation. I know that he is looking at me as an individual and not just a medical protocol. When I need to see a specialist, he always refers me to the best available.

I love the practice but my regular dr was booked. I was very disappointed with dr Rood. He did not listen to me, talked down to me, never even looked at the area that was my source of pain and never asked me how much pain I was in. Totally awful and neglectful assessment, which resulted in my having to call back as my condition worsened thorough out the day and was finally sent for test. Which proved somewhat serious. He did call me back and called in a script that I told him I did respond to well. I will not see him again. In my opinion, dr Rood is the weak link in an otherwise great practice. I love my regular dr and all the staff at south russell. What a let down.

My child had been seen on numerous occasions at South Russell Family Practice until moving out of the area. Being a local of Geauga county, and having not seen a Doctor outside of an Urgent Care office in 10 years - it was time for me to find a Doctor. Many of the ladies in my community expressed such heartwarming experiences about Dr. Rood's team both medical and administrative, encouraging me to give them a visit. Over time I had developed a fear of the whole issue of seeing a doctor, tests and such so I was on high anxiety to even make an appointment. I dropped into the office one afternoon on my way home, was greeted by the most warm group of ladies behind the desk who helped me make an appointment, putting me totally at ease. Days later I came back (surprising I did not chicken out), and again greeted/welcomed by such an empathetic group of professionals. The nurses were also great - kept me giggling and listened carefully to my concerns, reassuring me every step of the way. I met with Dr. Rood. I found him to be highly intelligent, empathetic, caring about my concerns, both listened and heard what I had to say. I felt totally at ease and cared for. He explained in detail what blood tests I needed to get started and how long it would take for results. He explained the communications portal that was offered for me to check my results, send him messages and receive his answers. He was thorough and smart. Being a business woman, I need a Doctor who recognizes and acknowledges my concerns, questions and gives me the "straight picture" - yet who has a good bedside manner as well. I got my test results in a day, he answered my questions beyond working hours - and explained the next step to my wellness. Several days later I needed to see him again and was able to get an emergency appointment same day. I got an appointment within hours and when arriving I waited 15 minutes tops to see him. Again Dr. Rood and his staff stepped up to the plate with everything I could ask for and more. He spent an hour with me going over my results, how I could improve my health and took time to examine a concern with my arm that had cropped up over the long weekend. I find him highly knowledgeable and professional. Plus he is a really nice person to talk with. I would recommend him and his practice in a heart beat. I will be seeing Dr. Rood in future for any medical concerns.

When I was a patient of his I would generally have to wait at the minimum 45 minutes and at the maximum over 2 hours to be seen (only with this doctor). Befitting of his name dr. "rood" is very cold and distant. He has this uncanny ability of making you feel as if he is better then you and that your opinions regarding your own care mean zero. If you have little ones I would highly recommend you take them to one of the other 2 physicians in this practice as he doesn't have a very warm personality. Additionally, if your a female I would HIGHLY recommend not seeing this doctor, he just gave me the creeps. Please don't let my opion stop you though from seeing either Dr. Kale or Dr. Hudson as I've seen them both and there wonderful. The front office staff are great as well.

This guy's name says it all. I have never been to a doctor this rude. When he spoke it was like a script. He spent less than five minutes with me and I felt he couldn't have cared less whether I felt sick or not or if i got better. He barely asked any questions and was very curt. After he examined me, he said if you don't feel better in a week call and come in and didn't bother looking up from the computer while he was talking. I opened the door and walked out. Although I like other doctors in this practice, not sure I would go back.
