I have been a patient of Dr. Shalaby for many years. In 2012 I had a heart attack in the middle of the night and rushed to Memorial Hermann SouthEast. The next morning Dr. Shalaby found out about my condition and showed up in the hospital. The key was that was his day off but he still came over to check on me. Very competent.

I have a great deal of respect for Dr. Shalaby. Like all individually run businesses, there are cracks in the insurance verification process and the focus at the front end of the office is not on customer service. If you need to wait for hours for insurance verification - you just wait. I travel a great deal so the time I can see anyone local is very limited. I've had to change appointments more than once due to the front office "forgetting" to verify insurance. And the Doc won't see you if he thinks there is a chance he won't get paid - I don't blame him, he has some level of accountability for the entire patient journey.

I respect Dr. Shalaby. Although I have had only limited exposure to cardiologists, I have seen him over the past year on several occasions, and he appears to be a very competent practitioner of cardiology, and also has very good communication skills. The office also seems to employ what appears to be good diagnostic tools for diagnosis.

Dr Shalaby takes time to talk and listen. I find his staff friendly and helpful, including coming in on a Sunday to run a test to accommodate my schedule .

The wait times at this office are HORRIBLE! Expect to wait no less than 45 mins just to be put in an exam room where you will wait another 30 minutes! This doctor has no RN on staff and has his medical assistants answering questions they are NOT qualified to answer and his office manager kourtney is not only rude when you call to speak with her, she speaks very unprofessionally and seems frighteningly uneducated in the health field. I feel that if the office manager cannot even answer my questions, how can I trust this office to handle my healthcare needs?! The doctor spends hardly any time speaking with you which is unacceptable after waiting hours to be seen and I went through 3 different tests to find out I'm completely healthy. To me this doctor is all about the Benjamins and a lot less about the wellbeing of his patients. I now see Dr.Samman and I have never been more pleased with the quality of care I receive, his staff is honest about wait times and I appreciate that fully

My mother was using this cardiologist for a few months when I realized she needed to change. The wait time at the office was ridiculous (30-45 minutes at times), and the staff seemed uneducated to put it nicely. His Medical assistant acts completely unprofessional and was rude every time I called with a question. This office has no Nurse of any kind on staff, they call his medical assistant a "nurse" which is a false statement. Medical assistants do not have the training or knowledge to answer most medical questions. This tells me that Dr.Shalaby does not really compare to other cardiologist in the area who have RNs, Nurse Practioners and PA's on staff to answer patient's questions.
