I went here once when I was 16. I had what I now know to be chronic IBS-D. I’m not sure if the exact date but it was in August 2016 so here we go. The second this guy opens the door and looks down on me sitting in the chair in the office, I knew this wasn’t going to go well. For some reason I just got a terrible first impression. So he sits down and we start talking about how this condition is giving me anxiety and the anxiety is making the problem worse. School was starting soon and I had no idea how I was gonna go in with this problem. He fully sat there and said to my mom as if I weren’t even there: “oh she’s goin to school, even if we have to put a cork in her.” YES. HE JOKED THAT ID HAVE TO PUT A CORK IN MY BUTT. Then he sat there and told my mom she needed to step up and force me to go to school and have a normal life, whether I had diarrhea in my pants in public or not basically. He didn’t even begin to examine me or even have me sit on the exam table. He just sat and said “the problems not with her GI tract, it’s with her anxiety. Get her to a psychiatrist.” We asked if I could have IBS medication or SOMETHING to help me and he gave us nothing. When we left my mom was trying to be optimistic and asked what I thought. I said it was SUCH a waste of time and a waste of my energy to get myself out of the house with all the problems I had. I told her I was absolutely not going back. We ended up going to my pediatrician I still had at the time and he sent me to a pediatric gastroenterologist and he was FANTASTIC. I’m 19 now and too old to see him anymore and am going through the process of finding a new doctor. It certainly will not be this guy or anyone else at that practice. I wouldn’t trust him to examine my animals let alone me or my child if I had one. If you have a child or you’re under 18, look up Dr. Qureshi in Carlisle. That’s where you should go. -J
